MSc Advanced Materials and Additive Manufacturing (Distinction)
BEng Mechanical Engineering

For my Masters Thesis project I designed an FDM printer modification, improving machine dynamics. I have in depth knowledge of the FDM process and how to optimise for: print speed, strength, and quality.

Prize winner in many online 3D printing and design competitions, winning approximately £2000 worth of prizes in the past three years:

Polymaker ‘3D printed hook tournament: Second place.
A combination of mechanical engineering, creative design and DfAM to create the strongest possible 3D printed polymer hook (no closed loop) weighing less than 50g. The final design withstood over a 1 ton load. ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒

Education

  • University of Derby MSc Advanced Materials and Additive Manufacturing, Material Science and Engineering, Distinction 2019 – 2022 Activities and Societies: null • Studied advanced material science, material properties and background science e.g. material microstructure, composite strength and toughness etc. Application and use of industry material selection tools including Ansys Granta selector.
    • Identification of appropriate applications for additive manufacturing. Selection of appropriate processes and machines based on material properties, part dimensions and other production requirements. Experience with state of the art CAD techniques including generative design with Autodesk Fusion 360 and nTopology.
  • The University of Sheffield BEng Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Pass 2013 – 2017 Activities and Societies: Railway Challenge society (Braking team leader), Minecraft Society • Solid grounding in core mechanical engineering subjects: mathematics, physics, thermodynamic cycles, teamwork, design, business, project management, finance, and law related to the engineering field.

    • For my final year project, I utilised ABAQUS simulation software to model roller bearing contact in a wind turbine gearbox. The simulation provided new insights under different loading conditions, contributing to research in wind turbine reliability.
