My name is Mohammed Abul Hassan. I have graduated at College of the North Atlantic – Qatar studying advanced diploma program in Mechanical Engineering Technology program. At present, i am pursuing Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Qatar University. Most people in the world have some goals in life. My aim in life is to become a mechanical design engineer. After I graduated high school, I became certain that I will pursue my higher education in mechanical engineering. The reason to study mechanical engineering is that, when I was in high school I was interested in Applied Math’s and physics. I like to apply theory which I studied in physics to solve real life problems. As a result, I have decided to study mechanical engineering. Moreover, I want interested to build hand-working skills in mechanical engineering. For this reason, I study at College of the North-Atlantic Qatar which is Canadian technical college. I have completed my advanced diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (industrial maintenance). In this diploma, I have learned a lot of industrial maintenance for example- reliable center maintenance, how the power plant system works, how to do maintenance in machinery equipment’s etc. Moreover, in final year I have learned how to build product from scratch. In my capstones project I build a hydraulic book lifting trolley. At first, I have done to research for the need of project. After that I calculated and design the model in 3-D software Catia V5. After finishing design I fabricated the project using college resources such as welding, fastening etc. These all techniques of fabrication I have learned in my diploma program. From this project I am interested to make career in design and manufacturing. After completion Diploma, I progressed towards B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering Degree completion at Qatar University. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, I have design and fabricated numerous projects, some of them highlighted below: -The aim of project is to design and simulate a solar powered water distillation system for rural communities in Somalia. The system consists of the evaporator, condenser, and storage tank for salty water, storage tank for distilled water, filter, pump and solar collector -The aim is to design a greenhouse that maintains the required climate to grow to tomatoes in hot and arid environments such as Qatar. The required climate includes the temperature, relative humidity, ventilation and carbon dioxide, lighting and thermal radiation, and so forth. The design is meant to meet the conditions at lower energy consumption and initial and operating cost so that to produce tomatoes that will be used for resale at a reasonable price and make profit. The design should also be reliable, have back-up systems, and be maintainable. Growing tomatoes and other crops in Qatar’s environment is important to increase food resources and production. -Aim of project describes computational and experimental investigation on the response of thin wall structures for energy absorption of car crash boxes. In this project, the tubes subjected to quasi-static axial loading. Many different cross-sectional structures have been studies to find optimal configuration for energy absorption. Initially, the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) model has been developed for different structures. From FEA model, Specific Energy Absorption (SEA) and Peak force has been estimated for different cross-sectional structures. To verify these performance parameters, quasi-static axial loading has been performed experimentally. Both foam-filled and without foam on different cross-sectional structures are implemented to study their effects on the performance parameters. The study used the aluminum alloy as a material to investigate the ability of using aluminum alloy in the energy absorption structures since the aluminum has lighter weight.

A master’s graduate with First Class Honours in Advanced Mechanical Engineering from University of Leicester, United Kingdom. During my masters, I had a module based on CAD modelling using Solid Works, where I had successfully submitted a CAD model of an spur gear. Also, had carried out stress analysis on the modelled part. This module has given me an overall proficiency of SolidWorks and capability to work on any task individually. At the same time, I have hands on experience with Matlab. I have successfully presented many Matlab simulated programs using various programming algorithms. For my masters project which was based on ‘Co-deposition of nickel-SiC using Pulse reverse plating techniques to produce nano composites’. Majority of the work was undertaken at the university which made me utilize all the resources and advanced technological equipment like scanning electron microscopy. After course completion, I have worked as a Teaching Assistant in the department of engineering. I have assisted in demonstrating mechanical oriented first year labs concerning flow measurements in pipes, and electrical oriented labs based on circuit design and analysis using P Spice. Also, assisted in second year labs helping students to learn about material selection in devices using CES Edupack software, as well as different engineering materials micro structural properties and processing. Furthermore, I have helped in for fourth year module involving conceptual design process for turbofan engines with improvements in aero engine design configurations. Throughout my educational & professional experiences, I have built a rigorous tendency to achieve the best possible results by approaching them with new innovative ideas.

MSc Advanced Materials and Additive Manufacturing (Distinction) BEng Mechanical Engineering For my Masters Thesis project I designed an FDM printer modification, improving machine dynamics. I have in depth knowledge of the FDM process and how to optimise for: print speed, strength, and quality. Prize winner in many online 3D printing and design competitions, winning approximately £2000 worth of prizes in the past three years: Polymaker ‘3D printed hook tournament: Second place. A combination of mechanical engineering, creative design and DfAM to create the strongest possible 3D printed polymer hook (no closed loop) weighing less than 50g. My educational background is in Instrumentation,Applied Physics and mechanical engineering. I studied at: -University of Poitiers in France -Strathclyde University in the UK, -the prestigious Technical University of Munich in Germany, -QUT in Brisbane in Australia. I am a driven, creative and organised executive engineer. I have been a company director since 2011, and this shows up in the way I cut to the chase, build strategies and plans, track progress, report and interact with people. I only do high-quality research and modeling. My moto is: first time right. I delegate simpler work and do all the really challenging work and peer reviews myself. I have reached the stage in my career where projects in any industry are similar. If it flows, I can design it. For example, the set-up of the CFD with waves for the marine industry is identical to the set-up of an electromagnetic radiation model. The waves need to be dampened at the boundaries of the models so that the model is not riddled with non-physical reflected waves. Setting up a mesh (pixelisation of the geometry on which the equations are calculated) for a marine foil has exactly the quality criteria as a mesh of a heat exchanger. In all R&D projects, spending between a few days to a few weeks in the most complex cases, enables me to become an expert in the field. My favorite type of project is R&D. I love going deep, learning new things, planing and figuring out how something’s going to work and how to optimise it. I have used Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) professionally since 2006. After a thorough CFD software comparison, I selected Siemens STAR-CCM+ and I have used it exclusively ever since. Star-CCM+ is a high productivity CFD software, equivalent to ANSYS Fluent. I set up the CFD modelling capability from scratch, and I became the CFD expert in the Australian Standards 1668.2 committee. I performed CFD modelling for: ventilation (natural and mechanical), fire, active facades conjugate heat transfer, pollutant dispersion and wind. My performance-based designs saved carpark owners and contractors 100,000's of $. I spent most of 5 years researching active facades that store energy and redirect sunlight deep in the building. I modelled heat transfer, phase change and radiation in the CFD software. In 2015, my mother was diagnosed with cancer, and I moved back to France temporarily with my family to look after my parents. I decided to start a "portable" consulting and supercomputing business and called it trampoCFD. Trampo for trampoline: my secret weapon to keep a creative mind is an Olympic trampoline break multiple times a day. I applied my CFD knowledge to improve process performance in many different industries: pneumatic conveyors, mining classifier, injectors, factory, vertical farm and carpark HVAC, irrigation, ohmic heating, coffee machine, marine and wind power generation to name a few. My skills include: -dilution/dispersion, -mixing, -Multi-phase and phase change (Free surface flow, evaporation/condensation, melting/solidification) -Electromagnetics (Joule's effect, Ionic wind, electromagnet) -DEM (grain, sand) -Conjugate heat transfer -Automation -Optimization -Moving bodies -CAD: Solidworks and NX -FEA: Electromagnetic static or dynamic simulations In 2019, Siemens approved me as a software reseller, which means Siemens recognised my ability to provide technical support to CFD engineers on Star-CCM+. This enables me to continue helping my clients once they develop an in-house CFD capability. In 2020, I became the lead CFD engineer of a group of 4 engineers and 2 developers who take on the most complex CFD and multiphysics consulting projects . I am an experienced researcher with a strong aerospace and mechanical engineering background. My work has involved a range of analytical, computational, and experimental analyses. As a curious and ambitious individual, I am always seeking to learn and discover new things. Currently, I am employed as an Aerothermal LAB Engineer, researching the thermal analysis and management of un-conditioned avionics systems. Specifically, I am using the Design of Experiment technique to evaluate the thermal behavior of avionics systems under different altitude and Mach number conditions and verifying the resulting data through both analytical and computational analysis. Previously, I worked as a Research Assistant, performing analytical and computational analysis for the thermal management of avionics systems placed in conditioned bays and qualifying the thermal design of avionics according to MIL-STD-5400E for airworthiness.
