Description:
Calling all pet designers, help me make the dog bowl great again!!
Small start-up company looking to disrupt the dog feeding bowl market. When you have a dog, you want to do all you can for it. There are a variety of boredom buster feeder dog products/bowls on the market that helps solve the problem of alleviating boredom and anxiety that can lead to excessive chewing, barking, digging, and other destructive behaviours.

I want to disrupt the dog feeder product market competitors to create something new, original and innovative integrating the Wobble Balance Board concept.

Please read the attached brief for more details on the scope of work and if you have any questions please let me know.

Wants:

• Innovative, creative and original design – out of the box thinking
• Cost effective and designed to manufacture
• Injection mould friendly using food grade rubber and plastic materials to manufacture
• 3 sizes-small, medium and large
• Sturdy and non-slip when in use
• Is it relatively unique versus what competitors sell and most people have come across on eBay, Amazon or similar online shops and current product competitors?
• Minimalist and simple
• Must help us modify if needed
• Use logo attached

The critical point is to positively make it an engaging experience for the dog – the end consumer. The other challenge is to convince the dog parents of the benefits/features by design and usability of it.

Open your imagination and professional creative ability – design something original and innovative.

If you think we're not being creative enough and have an innovative idea for an awesome design that fits the brief, please also submit. There are multiple prizes on offer.

Additional Information
Hi everyone

A big thank you to all the designers that have submitted designs to date. I have provided you with individual feedback along the way and will continue to work with you to finalise your designs.

I have broadened the prize pool and also extended the contest date to give designers that have entered more time to develop and finalise concepts. Please use this time to see how you can optimise your designs or pivot. Reach out if you have any questions.

I’ll share some common feedback over the last few weeks to help everyone in the design process.

Key feedback to date for design considerations:
• Simplicity and clever design, please design to manufacture and be mindful of costs
• Consider the shape of the board – round etc from a manufacturing, functional and design aesthetic viewpoint.
• You get points for explaining and showing me how the design works, please don’t submit a design without taking the time to properly explain what you’ve done. Some of you have been great in doing this, take me on the journey, please.
• The slow feeder side needs to have the depth to work – the depth of the bowl.
• I have seen double-sided wobble concepts – both sides wobble which I like. Please note the degree of the wobble and the design look when you do this. The lick mat side (with the slow feeder faced down) needs to have a higher degree of wobble.
• Snap lock/clip feature with interchangeable parts lick mat and/or slow feeder pattern – think accessory? This is a great feature to have and extends the product benefit.
• Consider concept being non-slip across all surfaces, you may have a great design but it needs to stop sliding when in use.
• Consider the patterns for both lick mat and slow feeder to work. Geometric and maze patterns seem popular but need to be dog friendly – so they can engage with the two sides. Keep it simple.
• Slow feeder bowl considerations - See which bowl and design pattern worked well – please read my brief for links to the website review of slow feeder bowls. The key is the pattern having varying heights of the raised ridges and shallow valleys. Keep in mind it needs to work for all dogs including those flat-faced…read the article for more.
o Please no rounded corners or sharp triangular or rectangular shapes for the slow feeder pattern – you’ll need to round it out.
o Make it challenging but please be mindful of the ‘dead space’ on your slow feeder design that will act as a bigger obstacle for the dog i.e. the pattern restricts dogs from getting food from some parts of the board.
• Make it easy to clean including dishwasher safe
• Allow space for branding (and logo)
• CAD friendly so I can view files using free software
• Please don’t make the design complicated that it is costly and time consuming to manufacture. Less is more.

Thank you so much for working with me and choosing to enter this contest. I appreciate all your efforts. If you have any questions please come back to me.

#66 Dog Feeding Bowl by auto
The bowl is in 3 different sizes. Small, medium and large. The design allows for active dog feeding. The shape allows the bowl to rotate on small force and the dog's food doesn't spill off. The design is simple and allows the various sizes of dog to feed from the bowl.

#51 Dog feeder bowl by auto
The bowl design is simple. It ccommodates the entry of the dog's mouth to feed. It should be placed on the ground to enhance rolling as the dog's feed. Thus caters for active dog feeding mechanism. The models vary in size, having small, medium and large dog bowls.

#50 Roll Bowl by johannel
A fully rounded food bowl, designed for maximum movement while your dog is eating. Use the Honeycomb silicone inset to smear soft treats on for your dog to lick at, or flip the bowl and use the Frangipani themed slow feeder as an alternative.
The bowl has a diameter of 19cm, a depth of 5cm and a total height of 8cm. This would be the medium-sized bowl and both large and small will be supplied on request.
The bowl is designed in 2 parts, the solid hard plastic bowl and soft silicone inset, both shaped for easy manufacturing and assembly.

Hi
thanks for competition , I am in. Soon I will try to submit something -that really matches the motto of this contest.
Tue, 23 Jun 2020 06:30:32 +0000
Hello Rian, is that okay to design some detachable component in the overall design?
Sun, 14 Jun 2020 02:09:30 +0000
Hey AO Vastukala, My dog is like that - gulps everything down. I think the slow feeding bowl has to cater to the dog that gulps everything down. This slow feeder bowl should be suitable for a broad range of dogs – the bowl should offer something for big, small and flat-faced dogs. The best performing slow feeder - promises to help dogs eat up to 10x slower – see the links
https://doglab.com/slow-feed-dog-bowl/

Thank you for your post. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Ryan

Some dogs are slow eaters while some simply gulp the food, which increases the risk of bloat, so there is different bowls for such dogs
So the feeding bowl has to be designed for which type of dogs?
Sat, 13 Jun 2020 00:19:24 +0000
Hi everyone, for those intending on submitting a design for this project please read the detailed brief. The design needs to be a double-sided design incorporating the wobble balance board concept. Sample A in the design inspiration is close to what I want - this incorporates the two concepts (lick mat and slow feeder dog bowl). Thank you to those that have submitted designs to date to which I have provided feedback. Please let me know if anything is not clear once you have had a look at brief.
Thank you
Ryan

No motor. Using the wobble balance board as your starting point. The movement of the board is triggered when the dog engages and eats/licks food off the board. Google wooble balance board for more details on how this works to help you further. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks.
