About

• Mechanical design engineer with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University
• Over 4 years of working experience in 3D modeling and structural analysis using CAD and FEA software programs
• Thorough understanding of design and analysis procedures, and proper material selection to ensure safety and optimal functionality of final product
• Demonstrated proficiency in using SolidWorks, CATIA and Ansys through various school projects and past internship experiences
• My capstone project required me to design a compact device, from a bulkier version, which harnessed nano aqueous ozone generator device components. The device intends to replace commercial detergents in the market with nano aqueous ozonated water to kill microbes
• My internship at Albabtain Power and Telecommunication Co. saw me design components such as base flange, poles, and other accessories and assembled these components together, created drawing sheets ready to be used by fabricators, and worked on optimizing the components for optimal performance and cost reduction
• At ITW, I used Ansys to compare the performance of a regular steel dowels used in concrete to a waveform shaped joint and conducted a full factorial DoE on the said waveform joint to determine the design with optimal results. Also, I suggested configurations and solutions to a production machine's rotary disc that failed due improper constraint based on intensive FEA analysis and design optimization

Experience

  • Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student Iowa State University · Full-time Aug 2022 – May 2024 1 yrs 9 mos Ames, IA, United States • Acquired theoretical knowledge pertaining to fluid mechanics’ fundamentals which were applied to practical CFD problems

    • Learned theoretical knowledge on mechanical properties of different materials and composites, how shape affects the overall strength of design and how to actively select the right materials/composites to satisfy my design objectives

    • Gained knowledge on the concepts of engineering management and the duties and responsibilities of an engineering manager to lead a project effectively

    • Gained thorough understanding in fracture mechanics and material behavior under various states and demonstrated knowledge through various projects using structural analysis tools (Ansys).
  • Mechanical Modeling and Simulation Intern Illinois Tool Works · Internship May 2022 – Aug 2023 1 yrs 3 mos Glenview, IL, United States • Used Ansys Mechanical to compare the performance of PD3-dowel to a proposed HDPE waveform control joint in concrete
    • Compared the results obtained from Ansys Mechanical to results from LS-DYNA and suggested which solver to use based on result accuracy and simulation run time
    • Used Ansys Workbench's parametric studies to perform a full factorial Design of Experiement (DOE) of the PD3-Dowel to explore the capabilities of using parametric studies for such analyses, as well as noted down the time taken to complete this study
    • Used Ansys Mechanical to investigate an aluminum rotary disc fatigue failure of one of 'Sammys' production machines
    • Suggested support configurations to be used, based on thorough analysis of the results obtained, to extend the fatigue life of the rotary disc
  • Mechanical Design Intern Al Babtain Power and Telecom Company · Internship Jun 2021 – Aug 2021 2 mos Riyadh, Riyadh Province, Saudi Arabia • Created street light poles and high mast designs using Solidworks and made replicas of pre-existing concepts
    • Conducted static and dynamic analysis on the poles using Solidworks Simulation
    • Formed drawing sheets ready to be used by fabricators
    • Learned the basic fundamentals of GD&T and applied them to the drawings based on the ISO standards
    • Created bill of materials for various assemblies
    • Created costing templates for each finished design, parts and/or assemblies
    • Witnessed the manufacturing process of lamp posts and high masts in the factory
    • Handed quality assurance and safety tasks to ensure parts and assemblies met the required standard and ensured that safety precautions are upheld according to OSHA standards for each step of the process
