Native to North Dakota, I attended NDSU from 2008-2013. Enthralled with its problem solving nature, I decided to study Manufacturing Engineering in 2009, I began gathering knowledge and experience working in all aspects of the field, from concept design to fabrication, as well as business design. In the year prior to my graduation in December 2013, I worked extensively (in a team of six) to develop, design, build and test a prototype for Ion Exchange Chromatography filter packaging. After graduation instead of looking for a job like the rest of my classmates, I decided to begin work on starting my own businesses. I had aspirations of starting a prototyping/R&D company to work on some of my personal inventions and ideas. This evolved into working on a more creative project in game development, which would eventually become my company, Fortuneless Studios, LLC. Right around this time, in 2014, I received an offer to work as a Quality Engineer for the Fortune 100 company, John Deere. After 9 months with this company, I parted on good terms with the intent to focus on Fortuneless Studios, LLC. While I enjoy working on game development everyday, I still miss the problem solving aspect of engineering work, which was the whole reason I got into Manufacturing engineering in the first place. I have extensive knowledge with PTC Creo including part design, assemblies, and engineering drawings. I also have a small home shop for potential prototype fabrication (depending on complexity). Work Terms Communication: ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ Hours: E-mail 24/7, availability depends on workload (40 hr/wk) Payment Terms: No project is created equal. Pay can be negotiated. General estimation for wage/hr: Large Scale - $25+, (Full scope design, many models/drawings, fabrications or long term projects). Mid-range - $15-$25, (Simple device, a few parts, or short term projects). Small Scale, $10. (Simple design, consultation, or individual parts/models)

“I bet you can’t do that Brian….” This is been a phrase that has driven me since I was a kid. I was gifted with mechanical aptitude, creativity, a great desire to learn. Through my upbringing, I was encouraged to work hard, never give up, serve others, and give all the glory to God. This work ethic has allowed me to continue to refine my skills and gain knowledge in many industries. When a problem arises, most people look around to see who is going to fix it, while I am chomping at the bit to develop a solution for the problem. While I do have a natural ability to fix things, I am also Creative & Artistic, which has given me the ability to provide better solutions to complex problems. This has also helped me to provide feasible/functional solutions for Architectural Projects that maintain the overall artistic touch that a customer/client may be looking for. I have 20+ years of experience in developing solutions, products, and systems in the Oil Field Industry, Agriculture Industry, Firearms, and General Consumer Products. I am the Inventor of 2-Patents for Oil Production Technology, and have developed other patented product designs for my customers. Through Process Development, I have helped numerous companies increase revenue, and expand their Product/Technology capabilities utilizing a logical, creative approach. I have always enjoyed tinkering with things. I remember my first success: In sixth grade I took apart a fully-functional remote controlled car and after putting it back together I was so excited that it actually worked! That success started a lifetime in the engineering world. I went on to get a BS in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Minnesota. I was fortunate in my career to be exposed to many parts of the manufacturing world - concept design, prototyping, design-for-manufacturing, material selection, metal and plastic molded part design, quality-by-design, 6-sigma, 5S, manufacturing machinery and processes, CAD 3-D design, CFD and FEA, and project management. Now I'm applying my skills to your project. Whether you're project is early concept, manufacturing launch, or somewhere in between, I will apply my education, experience, and creativity to your project, on-time and within budget - Mathew Torgerson

I have 10 years experience in a sheet metal and machine shop engineering environment. In those 10 years, I have honed my skills in Solidworks and cad creation from both a technical and manufacturing production perspective. Creating 3D models, drafting blue prints and deriving functional flat patterns for use in production are daily tasks. I also regularly consult customers with concerns or recommendations which would improve their design cost-wise during manufacturing. I pride myself on my efficiency, creativity and attention to detail. A project example which I view as an accomplishment: I redesigned a long time job to meet evolving customer quality expectations while reducing engineering and planning costs. Using Solidworks, I created 3d models for the complex job's assemblies using dozens of configurations which were easily editable for both revision changes and use in similar jobs. This change reduced planning, drawing, drafting, and programming time by over 75% and greatly reduced the chance of error.

After graduating with my Masters' in Mechanical Engineering in 2009, I immediately entered the industry turning rough ideas and concepts into concrete drawings and designs. Through clear and consistent communication with customers, my best designs often started their lives on napkins or whiteboards, and I brought them to life on my computer and then produced them in physical form. Good design requires a joyous combination of creativity and problem solving, and I take great pride in seeing something I shaped virtually become tangible. My work has been realized in injection molded plastics, machined alloys, carbon fiber laminates, and ever increasingly in 3D printing; they have been sold through websites, wholesalers, and distributors worldwide. The depth of my abilities was formed in an education in physics, mathematics, and engineering, while the breadth comes from 9 years of engineering and entrepreneurial experience. There are few aspects of product design and development with which I am unfamiliar, and my unique blend of experiences allow me to provide thoughtful, well-integrated products that exceed your expectations. Working within CNC production environments and operating my own CNC router and mill for more than 5 years has given me an understanding of manufacturing feasibility, production economics, quality control, and tolerances rarely found in traditional cubical engineers. This experience has in turn informed and evolved my design abilities: Drawing molded parts that require fewer slides and feature cleaner parting lines, minimizing fixture requirements for alloy parts, and assembling carbon fiber pieces with tabs and slots to reduce hardware demands. The difference between good and great design isn't always evident in the final form, but is often seen in the bottom line. In addition to normal engineering experience, my varied background has given me a unique blend of skills in complementary fields. I have written instruction manuals complete with CAD images and technical directions, as well as sent out press releases and sales guides with finished, watermarked photos. I have built web pages and populated eCommerce sites, creating logos and headers inspired by the very products I designed in Solidworks. I have taken on marketing roles, coordinated a worldwide team of championship-winning drivers, and even appeared on National Geographic’s "Showdown of the Unbeatables," representing and promoting my designs. My concepts and products have directly changed the face of an industry. What can I bring to life for you?
