I am a design engineer with experience in designing products and tooling for both low- and high-volume manufacturing. Whether you need to reverse-engineer a broken component, model your on-shored product, model and render a new product or concept, produce RFQ-ready technical drawings with full GD&T, or develop quality, easy-to-use tooling/jigs/fixtures for your manufacturing line, I can do it! I am a Certified SolidWorks Professional and an expert in Fusion360 - licenses for both of which I own. In particular, I excel at building parametric, equation-driven models and design tables at the part, sub-assembly, and top-level assembly levels. I am also experienced at parametrically linking Solidworks drawings for automatic information updates. My manufacturing experience includes injection molding, thermoforming, extrusion, acoustic felt, sheet metal, steel/concrete pipe, additive manufacturing, 3-axis CNC, and product assembly. I've reverse-engineered, designed, and revised hundreds of custom products and tools. I have worked the production floor myself, so I know what to look for and ask about when designing for production. I can build small- to mid-size mechanical prototypes, such as a small prototype refrigerator that I designed and built in the second half of 2022. I have the ability to produce parts via FFF printing. I can also assist you in locating quality vendors for tooling and production. Hello, I am Erik Lee. I attended Lawrence Technological University for a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technologies. From this program I received Cum Laude honors at my graduation in 2021. Recently, I founded my own CAD Design and Engineering business and am seeking more clientele. My specialty is using SolidWorks to create various mechanical parts, assemblies, and 2D drawings that are then machined. From my education, both high school and secondary, I have over seven years of SolidWorks experience. Early this year I obtained my CSWA – Mechanical Design certification. In addition to my experience with SolidWorks, I also have experience with programs such as Siemens NX, Autodesk, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Native to North Dakota, I attended NDSU from 2008-2013. Enthralled with its problem solving nature, I decided to study Manufacturing Engineering in 2009, I began gathering knowledge and experience working in all aspects of the field, from concept design to fabrication, as well as business design. In the year prior to my graduation in December 2013, I worked extensively (in a team of six) to develop, design, build and test a prototype for Ion Exchange Chromatography filter packaging. After graduation instead of looking for a job like the rest of my classmates, I decided to begin work on starting my own businesses. I had aspirations of starting a prototyping/R&D company to work on some of my personal inventions and ideas. This evolved into working on a more creative project in game development, which would eventually become my company, Fortuneless Studios, LLC. Right around this time, in 2014, I received an offer to work as a Quality Engineer for the Fortune 100 company, John Deere. After 9 months with this company, I parted on good terms with the intent to focus on Fortuneless Studios, LLC. While I enjoy working on game development everyday, I still miss the problem solving aspect of engineering work, which was the whole reason I got into Manufacturing engineering in the first place. I have extensive knowledge with PTC Creo including part design, assemblies, and engineering drawings. I also have a small home shop for potential prototype fabrication (depending on complexity). Work Terms Communication: ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ Hours: E-mail 24/7, availability depends on workload (40 hr/wk) Payment Terms: No project is created equal. Pay can be negotiated. General estimation for wage/hr: Large Scale - $25+, (Full scope design, many models/drawings, fabrications or long term projects). Mid-range - $15-$25, (Simple device, a few parts, or short term projects). Small Scale, $10. (Simple design, consultation, or individual parts/models)

I'm a freelance CAD designer with a uniquely hands-on background that bridges creativity, engineering, and real-world manufacturing. My journey began as a curious, creative kid constantly building and drawing — a passion that ultimately led me through a diverse and skill-rich path: from earning certifications as an automotive technician and CNC machinist, to apprenticing as a manufacturing engineering technician in high-precision aerospace environments. Driven to expand my design capabilities, I returned to college and earned a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design. During that time, I also worked as an optical lab technician — refining my attention to precision, optics, and fine-tuned craftsmanship. Today, I bring all of these experiences together to offer CAD services with a strong foundation in real-world fabrication, mechanical systems, and design for manufacturing. I specialize in 3D modeling, technical drafting, and developing functional, production-ready designs. I'm always looking for projects that challenge me to grow and push the limits of my design and engineering skills. Let’s build something great together.
