Description:
Our company needs a new and improved title block. This title block will be used primarily for customer-facing drawings. We use AutoCAD LT 2019. All of our CAD drawings are 2D. We use imperial dimensions only.
Wants:
Submissions will be evaluated on their professional appearance, completeness (containing all required elements) and aesthetics. We are attaching a copy of our current title block for reference, and we've highlighted in yellow the items that are required in the new block. We are also including two title blocks from industry peers as reference ("Example 1" and "Example 2", we like the style / simplicity of these two examples. We are also including our logo (jpg format, please let us know if a different format is preferred) to include in the new block.

We would like the new title block to incorporate the following elements:

1) Our company logo (see attached file), our address, phone number, contact email, and url.

Our address is: 908 South Walnut Street, Edinburgh, IN 46124
Our phone number is: (812) 526-8801
Our contact email is: sales@connectronicsinc.com
Our URL is: www.connectronicsinc.com

2) Part Number (12 or fewer characters)

3) Revision Level (2 or fewer characters)

4) Part Description (less than 60 characters)

4) CAGE Code: 43608

5) A relatively small block / section for "Additional Notes".

Around the border we would like a small copyright line ("© Connectronics, Inc. 2019 All Rights Reserved") , and also the part number (similar to what is see on the "Example 1" title block attached)

Our current title block uses a font that is difficult to read, we like the fonts used in Examples 1 and 2 but are open to other ideas.

We would prefer that the majority of the title block be on a single drawing layer, with only the following items on a separate layer as they will vary from drawing to drawing: Part Number, Revision Level, Part Description, Date, and the Additional Notes field.
Don't Wants:
Our customers are engineers and purchasing managers. Our title block should not be overly complex or "frilly" (clean and contemporary is preferred).
Ask for Sample:
We will ask the 1st Prize designer to make 1 additional round of edits to the final title block design.

Dear customer, in submission no. 38, the dashed line outside the border is just to mark template. It can be removed by 1 click and delete option.

Thanks

All, I have been thrilled by the entries so far, all very much appreciated. I do want to provide some general feedback - not specific to anyone’s design, but something to consider... I am favoring the more simple and streamlined designs. In the project description, we listed 5 items that we believe were essential to our new title block. The other items shown in our current block are likely not required and not likely to be included in our new design. Thank you all again for your efforts in this contest, I look forward reviewing the entire set of submissions in the coming days and finalizing our new title block!

We unfortunately do not have Adobe Illustrator on-premises to read .ai file extensions. Adobe PDF would be fine for the initial submission (.dwg/.dxf for final).

The sheet size for this project is ANSI A (8.5" x 11").

Hello buyer,

What is sheet size of template you want? A4 or A2 or ? This detail really needed for any template making..
Wed, 18 Dec 2019 04:36:18 +0000
Do you accept if it is designed in Adobe Illustrator format ? The submission would of-course include in .DWG and .DXF formats along with the .AI format.

I can take care of this for you no problem

I would be comfortable considering a portrait layout (vs. the current landscape format). Although most (all?) of the title blocks in our industry are landscape, I could see a benefit to portrait if it allowed us to use the top portion for the drawing itself, and the bottom half for more text-base technical descriptions of the part. Those technical specifications are typically on a separate page, but interesting idea of rotating to a portrait layout and condensing the two items (drawing and technical specifications) into one page. Again, not married to landscape, just is what we are used to. Also note: most of our parts are "longer" than they are "tall", which may explain why a landscape format is typically used. Another note: the drawings inserted into the title block are now mostly viewed online on a typical (landscape) display. I know that doesn't answer your questions with much conviction, but wanted to share as much about why it is currently landscape format!

Nice contest ;)
Tue, 17 Dec 2019 21:48:00 +0000
Question.. are you married to the landscape layout, or would a portrait layout be acceptable? For small items like this I have seen a shift to landscape so that a standard notebook can be used for hardcopies.
Tue, 17 Dec 2019 21:45:30 +0000
FYI, fonts used in example 1 are Arial Black and Arial Bold with some ArialMT scattered about.
Tue, 17 Dec 2019 19:20:25 +0000
Unfortunately I do not know what font was used in the logo. I could forward the Adobe Illustrator file that has the original artwork, if you are able to open that file format the font used should be visible there.

Hello, please specify the font used in the logo.

Ship to Ship Loading - CAD freelancer to design schematic diagram
You will design a schematic diagram that shows a ship to ship loading using a conveyor belt. View this video on vimeo to get an idea of what I am trying to convey. http://vimeo.com/16217538 The video is of two ships, side by side with a spacer barge in the middle. The smaller ship is loading the larger ship with a conveyor belt. At 1.03 seconds into the video, you will see a drawing. That's the type of drawing I want. But mine will have measurements of both vessels, the spacer barge, conveyor belt length and angle. I will provide all measurements. See attached pdf for they type of drawings. The attached sample will give you an idea of the type of measurements I need on the drawing.
