Wrote the ECOs and drafted the drawing changes for a complete deliverable design package to customer. Design and structural analysis of composite pod heat sink/strong back structure and composite enclosure for airborne camera payload of customer design. Successfully tested to IP67 customer requirement and delivered prototypes. Mechanical Engineer Adherent Technologies Inc July 2001 to Jan 2012 Development Laboratories 11208 Cochiti SE, Albuquerque NM www.adherent-tech.com Modernized outdated mechanical test equipment, as well as trained new personnel to complete destructive testing for evaluating mechanical properties of advanced composite materials. Results showed improved composite material properties achieved by chemist's formulas. Designed, manufactured and operated testing apparatus within ASTM specifications for collecting particulate emissions from catalytic wood stove designs. The results favorably compared new catalyst formulas to competing market products. Organized and managed the facility installation of a pneumatically operated, industrial distillation unit for solvent recovery for composite recycling process plant. Unit was successful, and safely operated. Designed and built structural support and developed operating procedures for a prototype 300 gallon acid digestion composite materials recycling reactor. The reactor is still operating and providing data for composite recycling research to this day. Analyzed the feasibility and implemented the re-purposing a salvaged reactor into a medium sized vacuum testing chamber for experiments with inflatable, foam injected, rigidizable-on-command space structures. Operated, collected data, and designed modifications to a large-scale gasification type tertiary recycling prototype plant. Improved critical heat exchanger designs. Designed, built and operated an experimental drop through plasma treatment chamber for etching surfaces of graphite flakes and carbon nanotubes for use in advanced composite material research. Created a synchronized jack screw system for rapidly opening heat treatment ovens to facilitate faster re-threading and increase production of line involved in composite fiber finish application and powdered tow pre-impregnation. Developed servo controlled gate valves for a feedback control method utilizing laser interferometers for controlling powder flow deposition onto composite fibers. Contributed to the scientific and technical innovation with mechanical test results and visual diagrams and pictures, approved for publication as a NASA Tech Brief, entitled Light Curing Structural Repair Tape for In-Space Repair. Mechanical Engineer Civilian Service, C-5 Engineering September 1999 to June 2001 Warner-Robins Air Force Base, Georgia Q-Clearance obtained (expired) Evaluated and solved engineering problems in a depot level aircraft repair facility, specifically working on maintaining and repairing the oldest prototypes of the heavy lifter fleet of C-5 military aircraft. I've been drafting since 2011. My first job was running AutoCAD for a landscape architect at 15 years old. During my high school career I was taught how to use AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, and to draft by hand. During my college career I was taught and certified in Solidworks, revisited Revit, and brushed over 3DS Max before covid. In my spare time I've been teaching myself animation and 3d modeling using blender. Since my childhood I've been drafting inventions, some of which have been made by major companies by coincidence. A playful, sensitive, caring human who has practiced and loved designing products since I was a child. Raised with regular access to a wood shop from age five by a wonderfully patient father I built cabinets and furniture in my early teens and worked into the construction trades until my early 20's when I tired of my options and started night school at my local JC. I eventually earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly, SLO, and worked for 12 years in the design and manufacture of a range of products in the industrial, recreation and medical device sectors. During that time I learned the subtleties of many primary manufacturing processes including machining and metal fabrication, extrusion design, some metal casting, CNC sheet metal production, metal hydro-forming and high-pressure thermal forming of plastics along with applicable coatings and finishing technologies for the same. I was also schooled in the development, application, and auditing of quality systems under ISO and FDA guidelines and the associated supply chain establishment and maintenance needed for the manufacture of products to exacting standards. Thinking I needed a change from the corporate world I began consulting on designs for small solar and wind installations and studied the emerging materials science applications of Geopolymers for infrastructure applications. I developed conceptual designs for automated equipment to refurbish small bridges based on the results of various Geopolymer studies but was unable to elicit support for its development. I explored ways of improving commercial greenhouse production while lowering the energy expenditures and later for lowering the cost and improving the efficiency of GSHP, (Ground Source Heat Pump), technologies but was equally unsuccessful at finding support for my proposed solutions. In recent years I have returned to consulting on product development for others and still look forward to helping develop new and refine existing technologies to address the considerable challenges facing our world. In general, I would characterize myself as a mostly talented mechanical/manufacturing engineer and product designer who is skilled at the synthesis of elegant solutions through the application of wide-ranging technologies.

These types of equipment solutions are used in the following industries: aggregates, pharmaceuticals, coal, food, tobacco, metals, paper, wood, glass and many others. I relocated to Louisville, KY in 1997 where I spent close to 10 years designing material handling and pallet wrapping equipment. I also have over 10 years in the the Autodesk reseller channel, were I implemented complete design solutions around a customer's needs.
