With a 9 year career under my belt, I returned to college while being a professional cyclist to learn what I wanted to do for my profession following racing. I have a BA in Geography emphasis in GIS and CAD, 2 years of engineering education as well. GIS certificate. I am a CAD Designer with 3 years of experience in the Telecom world. I designed as-built fiber layouts for MDU on various projects in the Southeast and West Cost regions of the country. I have a good understanding of what is needed in the field, and I can communicate very well with engineers. I have experience in AutoCAD, ARAMIS, and Byers programs, and I'm self-taught REVIT. I'm an illustrator/graphic designer by trade, and that comes in very handy when I need to go into CAD to design concepts or draft engineering layouts. My drafting and CAD background covers a wide area of expertise starting in aerospace at Martin Marietta, and continuing to Lockheed Martin. There I worked on ground support for Titan and Atlas using everything from drafting boards, Computer Vision 2D/3D, and I was introducted and trained in ProE in the early '90s making me some of the first so trained at Lockheed Martin where we supported Atlas III and Atlas V. After that I returned to Community College of Denver to take over running the Computer Aided Drafting and Design program for over 20 years where I taught AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, CREO, Fusion 360, 3D Printing, and 3D Scanning. I have been in the manufacturing field for 15 years. I have experience in many disciplines including Tool & Die, Injection Molding, Sheetmetal, Castings, 3D Printing, Medical, Aerospace, and Electronics Manufacturing. I am currently a Quality Engineer, and have experience with ISO9001, ISO13485, and AS9100 both on the mechanical and electronic side of the equation. As both a tool-maker machinist and a Quality Engineer, I have found my expertise quite intuitive to informing and consulting on the design of new products, the revision of existing products to aid manufacture, improve quality and reduce costs; and the design of fixturing and work-holding to facilitate general machining, quality assurance, and post-processing. I currently freelance on the side and specialize in legacy CAD support, which is the generation of CAD files from prints that were drafted before CAD was ubiquitous, primarily for DoD and Aerospace related parts. I also design inspection fixtures utilizing the latest in 3D printing technology to help keep costs down and reduce turn-around time. I take on all types of new challenges, however, and have recently been helping a few customers out with floor and site plans to pull permits for residential and commercial building projects. Having been thoroughly exposed to and educated in Lean Methodologies (Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, Kaikaku, Kanban), I can aid in the design of workspaces and floor layouts to reduce Muda, increase safety, and help facilitate JIT inventory levels.
