After nearly 5 years running a product development and 3D printing studio, I'm making to move to freelance to give me more flexibility. I work from a beautiful little studio in The Whisky Bond in Glasgow, Scotland where I share the space with other designers. I'm an experienced product designer with a proven track record of bringing products from concept to production. I work mainly using Solidworks, and we have several 3D printers in our studio to accelerate the prototyping process.

I am proficient in design using SolidWorks, Inventor and Creo, Finite Element Analysis using Ansys and Abaqus and for CFD analysis I use Ansys. I am a Mechanical Engineering Student from the City of Glasgow College now pursuing a career as CAD technician. I have extensive knowledge of programs such as Inventor and AutoCAD to create 2D and 3D models of parts, assemblies and technical drawings. I am happy to assist in general product design and manufacturing tasks, and I would love to gain experience from a large variety of different projects. I have experience designing a conveyor system and building it in the workshop using the technical drawing I created, with great success. My name is Neil Armstrong and I was born in Torbay, Devon, England in 1979. I grew up in Devon and had a number of jobs locally before moving to Fife, Scotland in 2008. After being made redundant from my job as a window fabricator due to the economic downturn, in 2009 I decided to go back into education after a number of years and undertook a HNC in Computer Aided Draughting and Design at Adam Smith College in Kirkcaldy, Fife. I successfully completed the course with an A grade and was also awarded a £500 DIAGEO Engineering Scholarship which rewards commitment to studies and success in coursework. In 2014 I graduated from Edinburgh Napier University where I undertook a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Product Design.

Recent masters graduate in Product Design Engineering, a CAD heavy course. I have knowledge and skills in CAD/CAM design, rendering, and engineering drawing skills using Solidworks and Fusion 360, and can assist with manufacturing and general product design tasks as well. 3D printing is a strong interest of mine and it is a topic I have extensive experience with in both research and practical applications. I have previously worked as a product design intern so I have industry experience in the field.
