  • Project Engineer Amey · Full-time Oct 2020 – Feb 2022 1 yrs 4 mos Milton Keynes, England, United Kingdom Developed an analytical model of the main plant systems in VBA that includes turbine, boiler, furnace, feed water, and cooling medium. The code allows to determine the performance of the systems as a function of the site instruments readings. Results showed poor fans operations that resulted in low combustion air mass flow fed into the furnace. Further investigation is currently being conducted. Coded a model (MATLAB) that ranks the equipment depending on specific drivers (safety, process, failure rate and lead times). The model allows for a fast scan of the 4000+ assets and critical spares identification. Created a database collecting technical specifications of 4000+ assets (turbomachinery, electric motors, heat exchangers, control valves and measuring instruments) which lead to the identification of redundant parts and a 10% reduction of the pressure and temperature sensors used on site.
  • Design Engineer Rolls-Royce · Full-time Nov 2019 – Sep 2020 10 mos Cranfield, England, United Kingdom Modelled a centrifugal pump that uses supercritical CO2 as a working fluid. Developed a CFD code in MATLAB that simulates the fluid physical properties and derive performance curves. Parametric studies were also carried out to investigate design space and feasibility.
    Completed the mechanical design and stress analysis of all the components of a centrifugal pump including impeller, casing and power transmission system. Designed 3D CAD models with SOLIDWORKS for the manufacturing of a prototype able to increase the fluid pressure by 4 MPa.
  • Quality Engineer Mecc Alte · Full-time Apr 2017 – Aug 2019 2 yrs 4 mos Vicenza, Veneto, Italy Supported design team providing Point-Cloud models serving as experimental data to validate FEM results for the development of 3 new product lines. Carried out FMEA and assessed the design manufacturability (parts dimensions and tolerances definition). C-Type and X-Type series currently in Mecc Alte’s catalogue. Managed the metrology departments of 3 business’ Italian facilities. Headed calibration and maintenance activities for CMM and mechanical measurement instruments, for a total of 400+ tools. Programmed CMM and Measuring Arms using software PC-DMIS CAD, creating programs with contact, optical and scanning sensors. Performed manual measurement of all generator components using gauges and micrometers. Defined corrective actions for non-conformities caused by machine tools operations, product assembly and special processes (casting, welding and resins impregnation). Produced documentation such as quality procedures, work instructions, validation reports and PPAP.
