About

I am a highly motivated and curios Engineer! I have a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8 years experience in Mechanical and Electrical Hardware. My experience ranges from aircraft electronic hardware and control systems to film-quality robotic arms.

I have also been responsible for multiple products from their concept phase all the way to production and integration.

I have always had a love for electronics and creating and for Mechatronics or Robotic projects.

I am a good communicator with a wealth of knowledge and ample CAD experience (Autodesk Inventor and Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Siemens nX).

Experience

  • Principal Hardware Development Engineer Hidden · Full-time Jul 2016 – Present 4 yrs 2 mos Cape Town, WC, South Africa Working as part of a team to design, analyze, review, manufacture, procure, assemble, test and deliver functioning and robust airborne and ground hardware. Main deliverables included mechanical enclosure design (machined and/or sheet metal), electronics cooling analysis, procurement, assembly and testing. Documentation production for assembly procedures of hardware, qualification and acceptance test procedures (according to MIL-STD-810G; DO-160E; MIL-HDBK-2164A), integration procedures and client integration efforts.
  • Mechanical Engineer 9dot Solutions · Full-time Jan 2016 – Jun 2016 5 mos Pretoria, GP, South Africa Structural auditing of bulk material handling equipment, namely a stacker-reclaimer. The equipment is analyzed by implementing FEA software. Different load cases are investigated (as specified by local codes of practice) to ensure that the equipment will perform as expected, be safe to operate and meet or exceed its expected life.

Other experience

  • Volunteer Work •Multiple Outreach programs which included vacation programs to help the less-fortunate in the Andriesvale community (Mostly Khoi-San) in the Northern Cape.
•Voluntary tutor programs for school children.
•Voluntary tutor programs for university students.
•In 2013 we went to Jordan as part of a Habitat for Humanity project. We had to fund-raise the cost of a house and built
    a large portion thereof.
  • Development of Animal Loggers Developed small logging modules for zoological research. These modules include video, temperature, GPS, etc. logging in small and energy efficient package. Developed PCB’s, ordered and soldered all required components and programmed the AVR-based microcontroller boards. The units have been successfully deployed on penguins, elephant seals and albatross. Used Python to facilitate computer-based user interfaces to these units.
