M Tech Internship Project As a part of curriculum of Master Degree I worked as a full time project intern from July 2015 to June 2016
The project title was Design of Grid Independent Cold Storage System.
The objective of the project was to check for techno-commercial feasibility of a refrigeration system which can store food for long duration and which works on locally sourced biomass.
Responsibilities:
1. Detailed market study to check for current infrastructure of cold storage.
2. Design of cold storage system that can run on residual fuel available in rural areas where grid electricity is still not available.
3. Calculation of total heat load using heat and mass balance to finalize cooling capacity.
4. Preparation of P&I Drawings.
5. Calculation of payback period to check for commercial feasibility.
Result and observations: The system is technically feasible. Simple payback period of the system was found to be 6 years.
