I am a CATIA V5 specialist with deep, hands-on experience designing plastic and sheet metal parts for the automotive industry.
CATIA expertise:
I work daily in Part Design, Generative Shape Design (GSD), and Sheet Metal Design workbenches. I build fully parametric, feature-based models with clean design trees — easy to modify, robust, and ready for downstream use (drawings, simulation, tooling). I use surfacing tools (GSD) for complex freeform shapes like lighting lenses and reflectors, and solid modeling for structural/functional plastic parts.
Plastics & injection tooling knowledge:
Using CATIA, I design parts with full attention to injection molding requirements — correct draft angles (checked with CATIA's draft analysis tools), consistent wall thickness, rib and boss design, snap-fits, and gate/weld line placement. I account for mold-related constraints like parting lines, ejector pin placement, and shrinkage allowance directly in the model.
Lighting parts:
I design automotive lighting components — housings, lenses, reflectors, light guides — using CATIA's advanced surfacing (GSD) for smooth, optically-correct surfaces, where tight tolerances and surface continuity matter as much as the overall shape.
Sheet metal:
I design sheet metal parts in CATIA's Sheet Metal Design workbench, with correct bend radii, K-factor, and automatic unfolding for manufacturability.
Other sectors:
Beyond automotive, I use CATIA to design parts for consumer goods, electronics enclosures, and general industrial mechanical products.
Delivery:
Native CATPart/CATProduct/CATDrawing files, STEP/IGES for compatibility, and PDF drawings with dimensions when needed.
