I've worked on a number of high end fully-custom architectural casework installations for both commercial applications such as restaurants as well as for luxury homes. My specialty is in designing wine cellars for both display/ showcase as well as high capacity storage. This often involves conceptual customer drawings (may include 3D renderings), shop drawings, CNC drawings, and possibly installation drawings or other trade-specific plans. I have also done broader work with other types of displays, kitchen cabinetry, bathrooms, closets, entertainment centers, and specialty casework. I have also completed projects producing sets of residential construction documents for building permit. I have been involved in the high end, highly detailed Kitchen and Bath Design in Los Angeles. With a background in "hands-on" design and production of detailed joinery, furniture, cabinetry, exhibition show stands, point of sale displays, boatbuilding...I got involved with kitchens about 15-16 years ago and found that I had a knack for space planning and detail. Starting out in Sydney, Australia...we then moved to LA whereby I worked in a few of the best kitchen studios around. This brought my level of service in design and drafting to a whole new level of communication through comprehensive documentation and research resulting in plans, elevations, typical section details, mechanical & electrical & construction drawings. We started our own "Southland Kitchen Design Studio" in Santa Monica just before the fall of 2008. Subsequently, with my wife being from New Zealand and our 2 boys as young teenagers we bought another wooden boat to fix-up and sail to New Zealand...a homecoming for Deborah and a travel/life experience for Jacob and Isaac.
