Contest Ended, Winner(s) have been selected.
Description:
This is a competition to design animal (and other) themed kettlebells. It is important that there are no sharp edges and no protruding elements that could cause injury or get stuck on clothing. The design will also need to allow for our logo being evident on the back of the kettlebell. Whilst the logo has been attached, the designers are free to adjust it in size, position, and proportion as they deem suitable. The size needs to be consistent with a normal sized competition kettlebell, which is easy enough for people to look up but as a rough guide: Handle Diameter: 33MM. Distance Between Handles: 123MM. Base Diameter: 140MM
The actual design can be representative or a bit cartoonish, depending on the aspirations of the designers
Nominated animals include:
A lion, leopard, elephant, rhino (all obviously flattened down in their contours for safety),
shark, eagle, dragons, snake, scorpion, crocodile, bear, wolf, Tyrannosaurus rex, Sabre toothed tiger, spider
This list is a guide and designers are welcome to choose other animals or themes
I do not require any primates and do not require skull designs
Wants:
Aesthetic appeal and functionality with the latter crucial for manufacture. The more animals you offer up in a submission, the better the chance of winning too.
Don't Wants:
Any pointing edges, that could snap off if dropped, design impacting in the handle grip not too high up - it can not affect the handgrip. Must not copy anyone else's design, must be original.
Company Logo:
Yes
Software:
- Needs to be in STEP and IGS format
Additional Information
File format: either STEP or IGS is fine The style we are after is like the one by onnit- if you google "onnit primal kettlebell" this may help in clarifying things further

by Gregorius Giga
Hi Davidm1,
While i do the revision of the Dragon Kettlebells, Please take a look of my design about Shark Kettlebells. I just tried to complete about what do you want, so please give a feedback about my Shark Kettlebells Design. Note : The tooth was flattened in the point so will not make an injury, and the tooth was covered by the snout of the shark.
Thank you and keep healthy, Giga

#27 Animal (Dragon) Kettlebells - ver03
by Gregorius Giga
Hi Davidm1
This is my this proposal. I tried to re-designed my proposal and this is for you, Dragon Kettlebells, Hope you like it. Thanks for your last feedback, i made the kettlebells (Dragon Kettlebells) With no Sharp edges to avoid an injury, but i tried to use the front fangs to keep the aestetics model from the Dragon, But i cut/made the end of the fangs to be flat. So i tried to make the people who use this kettle bells still safety. Please give a feedback about what do you wanna do with the lungs or the dragon so i will do it for you.
Thanks and keep healthy, Giga

I attached few image with different resolution and view, STEP and the calculation of the center gravity. Please give the feedback about what do you wanna do with my design.

#45 Kettlebell Snake Design
by E.M.
Hi David,
I uploaded 5 images along with STEP and IGS file. You said that you want the logo on the back of the kettlebell, but because of my design, I made some changes - you can see on photos where I put the logo.
This design allows you a few variations of "logo making" - can be extruded or cut in the kettlebell, painted on the surface, or by using simple stickers. It is all your choice. On photos, you can see how it looks painted/sticker, but if you want, I can make extruded or cut version as well.
Best regards,
Mario

Discussion
There is no need to put a weight on the design. Thank you for asking
Is we have to mention the standard weight number in kg/Lb behind the kettlebell as onnit style?
We are not averse to different sizes but would prefer they are comparable to a standard sized kettlebell
Do you want a variety of sizes for the animals or do you want the same size kettlebell for each animal?
So where the handle of the kettle attaches from one end to the other is about 123mm
what exactly do u mean by distance between handles? if that question makes sense. Im just not sure where the 123 mm goes.
Thank you for clarifying- either is fine.
When you say the files need to be in STEP and IGS format, do you mean you want both formats for one design, or is it either one?

COVID-19 Classroom Safety and 3D Product Design Challenge (open-source designs)
Schools and colleges are under pressure to re-open after the Coronavirus lockdown temporarily shifted classes online. This can present a unique challenge for crowded classroom settings and the educational institutions will need to adapt.
We believe the Cad Crowd community can help slow the spread with open-source product designs specific to the educational environment. This virus prevention contest is a follow-up to the May challenge for the workplace and public spaces ( www.cadcrowd.com/contest/2332-covid-19-coronavirus-product-design-and-3d )
The latest FDA advisory suggests that COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person, typically through respiratory droplets from coughing, sneezing, or talking. Experts indicate the risk of infection can be reduced with masks, physical distance, and barriers between individuals in spaces where groups of students gather.
The goal for this contest is to create open-source designs shared under Creative Commons that can be affordably produced with 3D printing and/or off-the-shelf components (pre-made parts, plexiglass, etc.).
Covid-19/Coronavirus Product Design and 3D Printing Challenge (open source designs)
With the outbreak of Coronavirus; testing, social distancing, and handwashing have helped prevent the spread of this disease. One area responsible for the further spread is frequently touched surfaces in offices, stores, and workplace areas (i.e. door handles).
We believe the Cad Crowd community can help prevent the spread by creating open-source product designs for public spaces.
The contest involves creating products that will be shared under a publicly downloadable open source license (Creative Commons). The goal is to develop designs that can be quickly and affordably produced with 3D printing and/or off the shelf basic components (i.e. pre-made parts that are readily available).
