About

Roy Wickrama is a mechanical engineer/designer since 2005 where he is an expert user of Autodesk Inventor (with Autodesk vault professional). Having landed in Canada (Vancouver) in 1988, he was eager to be working as a mechanical engineering design professional despite he was a machinery and equipment maintenance engineer before coming to Canada. Took a multitude of part time CAD and VB programming courses. He also took BCIT - Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Design Technology in 2003.
He is a hard worker and continuously upgrade his CAD design and drafting skills and find solutions to work faster, smarter and free of errors.
His Autodesk Inventor skills is excellent: Always explore how to create better sketches, consider modelling with design changes and detailing friendly. Use iLogic rules to ease the process of modelling and creating production drawings with accuracy. Use Autodesk Inventor forum to gain more skills.
With his fully functional home office setup, he is looking forward to helping the design and manufacturing industries, mechanical design professionals and consultants to achieve their project or production goals.

His home office resources (currently):
Desktop-1: Dell precision 32 GB RAM
Desktop-2: Dell precision 64 GB RM/1TB SSHD/1TB HD
Autodesk Inventor Professional - 2021 with Vault Professional and some third party tools

Designer Mainland Machinery Ltd · Apr 2019 – Present 5 yrs 1 mos Abbotsford, BC, Canada Modelling and creating detailed production drawings machinery and equipment: currently modelling and creating the drawings for for a range of structural components and high voltage electrical transmission towers (using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2019)
  • Mechanical Designer/Drafter Industrial Equipment Mfg. Ltd., · May 2006 – Present 18 yrs Surrey, BC, Canada Preparing sales drawings, plant layout diagrams and designing material-handling and logging industry machinery and equipment components. Plant layout drawings that were created consisted of infeed decks, deal debarker(s), outfeed decks, chain / belt conveyors, stackers / reclaimers, chip screens, chippers, etc. I have created manufacturing drawings for components for a gangway, belt conveyor components, belt feeder, infeed and outfeed decks, a chain unscrambler, pulley cleaners, electro-mechanical gates for debarkers, chutes, skirt boards, wheel bogies, using Autodesk Inventor. My designs included designing a tripper winch and the cable system, designing and modifying workshop tools: hydraulic motor drive attachment (modification), a jig for fabricating conveyor galleries and a stringer hole-punching machine.
