Francisco G.

An architect and urban planner who graduated from the School of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of São Paulo (FAU-USP, 1977), he possesses a solid background in higher education, institutional leadership, and the development of complex projects involving socio-environmental issues and urban infrastructure. He served as a tenured professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC, 1980–1984) and as President of the Institute of Architects of Brazil – Santa Catarina Chapter (IAB-SC, 1982 term). He specializes in coordinating urban-scale projects and transport infrastructure, notably developing studies for the Paraty International Airport that were incorporated into the Paraty World Heritage Management Plan.
A qualified AQUA Auditor (Vanzolini Foundation), his technical focus lies in eco-oriented architecture, energy efficiency, and applied urban sustainability. He is the creator and developer of "GIROMÓVEL," an innovative, low-impact, eco-alternative funicular system; the project is currently in an advanced preliminary design phase—featuring 3D modeling and detailing (3D Studio Max)—and is structured for validation and 1:4.8 scale prototyping.
He works directly on inclusive urban development and the circular economy in Areas of Special Social Interest (AEIS) in Rio de Janeiro. He is the founder of the first Workers' Cooperative for Areas of Special Social Interest (COOPERTAEIS) and the creator of the Educational, Cultural, and Tourism Hub (NECTUR) project in Alto do Vidigal—an entry for the 11th Saint-Gobain AsBEA Sustainable Architecture Award (2026). He maintains technical cooperation and institutional ties with Rio de Janeiro’s Municipal Secretariat for Urban Development and Licensing (SMDUL/CCPar) to develop large-scale mobility and green infrastructure solutions, such as the "Girocircuito" project for the Penhasco Dois Irmãos Municipal Natural Park.
