About
I design parts that come off the machine right the first time.
I'm an electrical engineering student at Ontario Tech who also runs a small SLA/FDM 3D printing business, so I've spent two years watching my own designs succeed and fail on real hardware. Before that I worked as a production assistant at a metal additive manufacturing company, building CAD models for CNC milling and metal SLM printing and handling quality control on the output — where I cut QA time by over 27 hours across a four-month term.
That background means I'm thinking about wall thickness, overhangs, tolerance stack and print orientation while I'm sketching a part, not after your first failed build.
What I do:
- Product and mechanical part modelling in SOLIDWORKS and Fusion 360
- Design for additive manufacturing and DFM review on existing models
- Reverse engineering from photos, sketches or caliper measurements
- Electronics enclosures with correct PCB fit, standoffs and connector cutouts
- 2D manufacturing drawings and AutoCAD Electrical schematics
Every job ships with native files plus STEP and print-ready STL, and a short note on how the part should be manufactured.
My electrical engineering background is the part most CAD designers don't have — if your product has a board in it, I can read the board as well as design the housing around it.

Production Assistant — Toronto Carbon | Jan 2025 – Apr 2025
Produced CAD models for CNC milling and metal SLM (selective laser melting)
production. Prepared parts for manufacture, supported machine setup and
handled quality assurance and handoff on finished components. Redesigned
the QA handoff process and cut inspection time by 27+ hours over the term.
Education
- Ontario Tech University Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Co-op, Electrical Engineering, 3.1 GPA 2024 – 2027 (expected) Electrical engineering program with a co-op stream, expected graduation 2027. Coursework across circuit design, embedded systems, control systems, electromagnetics and engineering design, with CAD and simulation work in SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD Electrical, NI Multisim and ANSYS HFSS.
- Centennial College Advanced Diploma, Electrical & Electronics Engineering Technology, 3.8 GPA 2020 – 2023 Activities and Societies: Varsity soccer — Centennial Colts Three-year technology program covering circuit analysis, power systems, electronics, instrumentation and control, PLC programming and AutoCAD Electrical drafting.
Other experience
- Shift-Register LED Control System — Arduino + SN74HC595 (2026) Multiplexed parking-sensor LED array driven by cascaded SN74HC595 shift registers on an Arduino, written in C++. Cut the microcontroller pin count needed to drive the full array, including driver circuit design and current limiting. Source: github.com/Alian-Syed-Eng/arduino-shift-register-led-system
- Embedded Boost Safety Controller — Overboost Cutoff System (2026) Designed and built an embedded overboost protection controller in C++: pressure sensing, hysteresis logic to stop relay chatter at the threshold, configurable cutoff points and a live LCD readout. Covered sensor conditioning, control logic and packaging of the electronics. Source: github.com/Alian-Syed-Eng/boost-safety-controller
- Smart Blinds Automation System — ESP32 Motorized Blind Controller (2026) Designed the mounting bracket and drive housing in Fusion 360 and 3D printed the mechanism, then wrote the embedded firmware in C++ on an ESP32. Took the project from mechanism design through print, assembly and control: gear and bracket geometry, tolerance fits for printed parts, and motor driver integration.
