I specialize in parametric CAD modeling and drafting functional designs. I've always been known as a computer whiz, and I earned a 2nd place Arizona Regionals FRC medal in 2012 by helping to program our robot "see" a basketball hoop backboard in autonomous mode. I received a BS in Sustainable Manufacturing and minor in Managing for Sustainability. The emphasis in sustainability is really something I want to pursue in my career. I believe this country needs to scale up its transition into renewable energy and I want to work for a company where that is part of their goal. I have taken classes in quality control engineering where six sigma was taught along with tools that would guarantee quality control. I have studied manufacturing operations strategy, forecasting and supply chain management, project team management and maintaining excellence, all within a safe environment. All of these skills have prepared me to lead a collaborative team to execute well planned and organized solutions in a fast paced environment. This is my second career. My first stint in industry was in IT support where I learned valuable skills in troubleshooting and customer service. I transitioned from that job into more of a programming and network monitoring roll. At that point I went back to school full time and studied computer science and manufacturing. I am versed in C++, Ruby, and Bash scripting and can navigate a Unix OS very well. I think programming skills are very important in the manufacturing industry as automation is becoming more accessible to companies that are ready to scale up to larger production rates. I have experience in programming automated Adapt pick and place robots as well as experience in designing end effectors for specific tasks. I have experience in CnC programming and have even fabricated a desktop sized CnC routing machine from scratch as one of my personal projects. This project was a lot of fun and taught me valuable lessons in fabricating, and implementing automated machine systems for daily use. It also taught me valuable project management skills in how to budget a project and maintain consistent time management while going to school full time. This project also took lots of research to complete witch is something I really enjoy.

Upon graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno in the spring of 2006, I had already completed a 2 year internship at International Game Technology to which I started a full time position. I continued to work in the Electronic Game Machine industry for a total of almost 16 years. Prior to working as an engineer for IGT, I acquired an additional 3 years of machine shop and fabrication experience from MTG, Inc in Carson City, NV. To date, I have designed, developed, and tested most aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Have applied knowledge of engineering principles to design various other products such as test instruments and controls for internal use. Have been heavily involved in fabrication, operation, installation, and the field repair of electro-mechanical products. To date, I hold patents in the EGM field for reel basket attachment techniques. I am familiar with a large variety of the fields’ concepts, practices, and procedures. I have been involved in product design and manufacturing for 30 years, using SolidWorks since 2000 and Autocad since 1995. Those are just the tools. My real strength is my process development and manufacturing experience that accompanies my passion for design/engineering. I have first hand experience bringing products from napkin sketch to various production volumes in many sectors, Small electronic devices, Advanced composite parts/assemblies, Aerospace, and Consumer products to name a few. While I may seem more expensive upfront, my work product is generally closer to production viable than a typical prototype. I design as if I will be producing it. This also tends to yield lower costs in the long run.
