I have in depth knowledge of the FDM process and how to optimise for: print speed, strength, and quality. Prize winner in many online 3D printing and design competitions, winning approximately £2000 worth of prizes in the past three years: Polymaker ‘3D printed hook tournament: Second place. A combination of mechanical engineering, creative design and DfAM to create the strongest possible 3D printed polymer hook (no closed loop) weighing less than 50g. A master’s graduate with First Class Honours in Advanced Mechanical Engineering from University of Leicester, United Kingdom. During my masters, I had a module based on CAD modelling using Solid Works, where I had successfully submitted a CAD model of an spur gear. Also, had carried out stress analysis on the modelled part. This module has given me an overall proficiency of SolidWorks and capability to work on any task individually. At the same time, I have hands on experience with Matlab. I have successfully presented many Matlab simulated programs using various programming algorithms. For my masters project which was based on ‘Co-deposition of nickel-SiC using Pulse reverse plating techniques to produce nano composites’. Majority of the work was undertaken at the university which made me utilize all the resources and advanced technological equipment like scanning electron microscopy. After course completion, I have worked as a Teaching Assistant in the department of engineering. I have assisted in demonstrating mechanical oriented first year labs concerning flow measurements in pipes, and electrical oriented labs based on circuit design and analysis using P Spice. Also, assisted in second year labs helping students to learn about material selection in devices using CES Edupack software, as well as different engineering materials micro structural properties and processing. I have designed various machinery including road tankers, generating sets, pumps, compressors, hydraulic mechanical handling equipment, lifting gear and even a battery powered mobile hoist for Torness Nuclear power station. I have received industrial training in the UK from National Grid, the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) and the National Fluid Power Centre (NFPC). I am an expert with Inventor, and in recent years have also become competent with Fusion 360 and Solidworks. CAD software is so good nowadays, that it is quite easy to model something. Where I have proven to be outstanding is with my application of mechanical design analysis and enough experience to know how to apply theoretical methods to reality and what works. Where necessary I can present comprehensive design substantiation e.g. to meet design standards such as BS / ISO or machinery directive and obtain CE / UKCA marking. I am expert with MathCAD and Excel for producing and presenting calculations that have held up to scrutiny. Where appropriate I will produce FEA with Inventor and ANSYS for stress analysis of more complex geometry and loading situations. During my Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering (later incorporated to MSc), I studied the numerical methods involved in FEA, and this combined with experience in aftermarket looking at part failure with Howden Process Compressors, now informs how I use these tools and allows me to use FEA effectively and realistically. I have solid understanding of key manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, welding, and fitting, having always worked closely with the shop floor, soaking up knowledge and enjoying the camaraderie. I am interested in innovative technology and in recent years I have produced successful designs for mechanical components made by 3d printing of plastic. I have extensive knowledge of industrial components and suppliers and have often saved the time and expense of design and manufacture by knowing of an appropriate off-the-shelf part. Ever since i can remember I've been taking things apart and attempting to build them back again better. you name it, I've probably ripped it apart, peered inside it or have a good idea to how it works in the first place. I specialise in making 3D designs on Autodesk Inventor, specifying materials and doing some stress analysis, then creating engineering drawings for manufacture. Being able to design to military standards and adhere to other numerous standards, including a long list of ISO standards. My working life has consisted of manufacturing and fitting for 9 years, and now to a heavily design based work for the past 3 years. And now more recently i am looking to branch out and offer my engineering services further afield with the hopes of becoming a full time freelance engineer in search of innovative projects that spark my interest. Unfortunately i can't talk publicly about my previous contracted work, however i can talk about my engineering interest outside of work that has lead me to build; 1. Motorbike from the ground up, completing all the work myself, including engine, gearing, electrics and painting. 2. Computer for myself and a few friends over the years, creating custom units based on required needs. 3. Security Torch with the power of a car headlight. 4. Converting a Panel Van into an insulated Day van, complete with 4 layers of insulation and sound proofing, windows and electrics. Also replacing the Turbo and brakes. 5. Designing and building a TV within a coffee table for playing retro games or displaying D&D maps. 6. 3D printing solutions to problems that i come across in day to day life. 7. Designing and building a Rock tumbler for use with 3D printing parts to smooth the surface ready for painting. specifying the motor, gear ratio and media to be used. 8. And many many more, that are a bit too small to list here. My interests in engineering are as follows: Automotive, Mechanical, electrical, weight saving & structural design, material design and sustainability to name a few.
