Yes we would love to have the final part be a 1 piece "shell" if possible. Or as few parts as we can get away with. You are correct there are several parts to the over all assembly and we want to eliminate them as much as possible. I guess you could say the goal is for the final part to look like the original cover from 10 feet away with it closed. This will help keep weight down. Also, the cover will lift off and mount on pins. No Hinge or latch. Finally - there will not be a window installed as in the original. That will be an open space (possibly with a stiffening strut if needed).
We have the ability to do some minor revisions to the drawing as we develop the mold - just not the time or expertise to do the entire drawing from scratch.
I will add some dimensions here later today.

Hi Erikl, Hopping you are well. I understand which you want to design. I seen your attached pics and carefully read description you shared. I need size and boundary dimensions. This lotus esprit engine cover is a assembly of pieces and fittings therefore it is require the fitting dimensions and its own size.
