Description:
We are looking for some concept sketches for a key case.An innovative key case design which can hold a typical car key (attached picture). The case itself should be able to fit on a key ring.
The key should be completely hidden inside the case until the case is opened (by some creative means or mechanism) to reveal the key, either in whole or part – at least, so the user can press the buttons on the key itself.
We are looking for a high-end, upscale design, which combines smooth-functionality with luxury and desirability. A pleasure to look and feel, a pleasure to simply hold in your hand. A status object and a pleasure to use, again & again - perhaps damped - with an extremely desirable finish, perhaps piano black, brushed steel or rose gold ... following an interface design associated with the modern iPhone-types. However all design finishes will be considered.
Wants:
- Ability to be manufactured.- Ergonomic design
- Offers a good user experience
- Good interface design
- With some approximate sizing, width, length, thickness.
Don't Wants:
A purely theoretical design which is unable to be manufactured.
Additional Information
In summary, we are trying to identify an simple and innovative opening mechanism for the case which will offer an enriched user-experience.There should be no buttons on the external case.
The design should be able to be operated with a single hand.

Balaram: The Key is a separate item designed by a car manufacturer (see attachment). We are interested in the design of the case only (into which the key is placed).

akhilesh: No, we are not comfortable with that size, its waaay, to thick, 20mm max for us.

#33, Thanks for the response. Yes, it is possible to have a rectangular design with the same idea, but it take a size upto, 40mm×40mm×80mm.

arkiattack: Very interesting design, but no, this is not really for us - we would prefer a solid mechanism, which serves to reveal the rectangular key.
akhilesh: A very good design showing innovation, which is what we are looking for. Is it possible to have a rectangular shape (which reflect the shape of the BMW key), rather then the barrel shape form, you have shown?
MN CAD/CAM Services: Yes we had thought of this some time ago, and it remains a solid functional design. However, the issue is thickness - the rectangular BMW key is 13mm thick, which would mean the lower section would be much thicker than the upper section, resulting in asymmetic aesthetics?
mahsali: Interesting design and well demonstrated. We would be looking for something a bit more ‘solid’ with a solid mechanism rather a screen-enclosed system.
Jagadish : Perhaps you can elaborate on how the mechanism works. A pencil sketch will do fine.
Blazest: Thank you for the design, however, the key is not this shape - see attachment for the key, its a rectangular shape. Also, is the design able to operated with one hand? We do not think so.

Self-heating Tumbler Design
We are a new venture specializing in the creation of Self-Heating Tumblers. Our tumblers (travel mugs) are quality made with precision and self-heat themselves by the press of a button. The button initiate a reaction inside the tumbler chambers, causing the interior to heat up.
We are looking for a concept/prototype design in 3D. We have attached design specifications and photos describing the product.
Animal Hideaway
I would like to design a more moden hideaway for guinea pig, hamsters, rabbit etc. I would like to keep still wood pine house since these animals will bite it up. I would like it to be more of a luxury look but still in the same sizing because most customers will buy a small starter cage to fit it in. I will post an example in the pictures of sizing of cage.
Guinea Pigs have an issue pulling there food and water bowls in there hide aways and spill everything. I would like the food and water bowls to be attached to the house with a bowl holder where I can remove the bowls on and off to fill up. I would like the food and water bowl to be ceramic. A window can be made where the animal sticks there head out the window to the bowl drink and eat the food easily while inside there home.
Attached are pictures of a hideway would like it around that same size.
Food and water bowl would like it to be more that shape.
Animal Cage picture the hide away would have to fit in that cage size.

Motion tracker unit with holder
We are looking to develop product design drawings to be used for manufacturing of our motion tracker unit, which will be launched for a fitness center chain, for tracking use of exercise machines.
The unit will house our own electronic module and battery, so the design shall result in the required 3D production drawings for plastic molding of the unit housing (stp or dwg file format), which will be in two parts (top + bottom), and a matching holder.
Detailed descriptions (dimensions and considerations) are enclosed in a separate document, to be considered as guidelines with some freedom for the designer.
