Description:
We're looking for small and sleek aesthetic designs for a hard-hat clipable safety notification system for construction workers to improve their work safety.
Wants:
1.) Aesthetics2.) Unique and effective method for attachment to hard-hat.
3.) Manufacturable: build to standards for plastic mold injection.
4.) Meet size constraints
5.) Slim design (does not obstruct field of view when wearing hard hat)
Don't Wants:
I don't want a large/fat design. Please design to the minimum tolerances allowed for plastic mold injection.
Software:
- AutoCAD (Latest)
Additional Information
Additional Wants:- Water-resistance
- Front-case and button fused. We'll use a multi-material plastic injection mold. Button will be a rubber-like material with a column that makes contact with the PCB snap-dome.
Score Breakdown:
Aesthetics (25 pts) | 25/25: Design is pleasing to the eye.
Manuafaturability (25 pts) | 25/25 : The design can easily and cost-effectively be adapted for plastic injection molding.
Housing Attachment (20 pts) | 20/20 : The design features a unique and effective method for attachment to the brim of a hard-hat.
Design Novelty (10 pts) | 10/10: The design does not reflect any characteristic design features of earlier entries or current available products.
Designer Interactions (10 pts) | 10/10: Designer actively engages with Buyer.
Water Resistance (10 pts) | 10/10: The housing is water-proof.

Hello Everyone,
Congratulations to HandSketcher for 1st place prize with a small, thin, and attractive design!
I'm attaching a score sheet in the attachments for everyone to see how they were graded.
Thank you to all participants! We really loved everyone's input and the great submissions.
Please go check out our 2nd Project "Hard-Hat Clipable Safety Notification System (
)" focused more on manufacturability and building around a specific PCB.

Hi Everyone,
We're closing the competition at 11:59 pm (Pacific Time Zone) Saturday April 8th, so please submit your final designs before that time.
We'll be hosting another competition very soon focusing more on designing a housing around a specific PCB instead of conceptual like we did this time.
As this this was our first project Cad Crowd, we'll do a better job this second time with awarding 1st,2nd,3rd prizes, funding the project upfront, and keep the project time down to 10 days.
Thank you all for you submissions, we've very happy with the results we've gotten so far, and we're happy to work with you guys on future projects!!

@Samadoni: only the user needs to see the LEDs, but it's ok if both see the LEDs.
Do the lights have to be visible only for the the person wearing the hat, or for other coworkers? or both?
Thanks I understand! I can work with that
We're very happy with the results and design entries so far, so we're moving forward with pre-paying the project. We're very excited to see who submits the best design!
Hi SL:
We didn't provide that information since we'd like to see some creativity in aesthetics and safety-hat placement. The PCB design is open to change. Please focus more on coming up with a creative, aesthetic, and novel housing for this application. We've provided PCB specifications and images just for an example reference so you can get an idea of the basic components and basic size the housing should be.
So to summarize, this is more of a concept-design competition instead of designing a housing for one specific PCB.

Can you have PCB designer supply DXF of layout?

Hi Ux,
I'll prepay the project once we get 5 quality design entries.

I think payment for the contest must be completed for getting good designs as it gives confidence for all the CadCrowd designers. I hope all the CadCrowd designers would agree with me.
Thanks,

Hi John, could I have the assembled pcb height. I'll have what you need complete fairly soon.
Many thanks

@Abid:
Please forgive me for not explaining it better, this is our first project posting on Cad Crowd. The safety notification system is accomplished with the internal electronics already developed. You will be designing the outer casing to house and protect the printed circuit board. All that is important is that there are LEDs on the curved portion of the case to display threats, there is a push-button in the center of the case, there is a micro-USB charging port on the side and the case will be clipped somehow to the underside of a hard-hat.
Hope that helps.

Hey there,
what all do you want to include in the safety notification system, it will be helpful if you can tell me the field of work where the hat will be used.
Are you sure you don't want a 3D simulated model and just an Auto CAD file.

I understand perfectly.
Sounds good.

This seems a pretty awesome idea , will update when I am done with it
Hi Samadoni:
All I'm allowed to say is: the device has internal sensors to notify construction workers of nearby dangers.
If we like your design concepts, we can issue a mutually protective "Non Disclosure Agreement" and spill our beans.

300 sqm 3D floorplan sketch
I have a land and I'm planning to make a 4 floor building for a residential purpose . The design should be a modern style apartment .the land size is 700 sqm but the allowed space for building is 300 sqm .
I need to see 2 different designs as this :
First design : The floor should consists of 2 apartments , first apartment to have 3 bedroom and the second apartment to have 2 bedroom . Both apartments must have at least 1 master bedroom , a living room and a hall with setting and dining area . I suggest the size to be 170 for the 3 bedroom and 130 for the 2 bedroom . There should be built in wardrobes .
Second Design : Should consist of 2 apartments , first apartment to be a 3 bedroom apartment with all masters and a small clothing room in one of the master rooms. it should have also a big hall , living and children playing room if possible . The size of the apartment should not exceed 230 - 240 sqm . The other studio apartment should not exceed 60-70 sqm .
I have attached 3d designs that I really liked but it doesn't fit my land plan . I also have attached an autocad floorplan that has been mad by one of the local designers but it didn't meet my expectations but I attached it for your understanding .
Please note that the ground floor apartments should have 2 Entrance , one entrance is the Main stairs entrance that leads to other top floors and the elevator and the other one is a side entrance for each apartment in the ground level .
You may notice that the setback area is shown in one of the designs attached which should be mined .
Creating the St. Maxine Patio Lounger coverrtable to Bench
I would like to have a design for two wood loungers that have a retractable wood piece that can convert the loungers into benches. I would also like to have a table that can retact up into an umbrella with this plan. A wood table that can come down and be the table when its a bench/loveseat and disappear
Dwarven Forge Bracelet
A bracelet design to complement our long standing line of Dungeons and Dragons/fantasy rpg terrain. Please view our website -- dwarvenforge.com -- to develop a sense for our product. You can also look at our recent Kickstarter campaign -- http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1745470388/1826778276?token=2a7841d2 (see "Game Tiles" on kickstarter.com).
I'd start with a bangle, probably with one main charm, a small crystal and a small charm with our logo -- kind of like "Alex & Ani" level of complexity, but for gamers. The main charm should probably be metal. The bracelets are for women, gamers or partners of gamers.
Design of 3d photography studio
Design a small 1.5 m x 1.5 m booth that will be an "add on" to the back of our current photography studios. These studios are in the middle of shopping centres. Single profile only. We have a specific design in mind so if your are good at CAD you won't have a problem doing this with ease
