About
I am a Product Designer and Mechanical CAD Designer with over 20 years of experience in product development, covering the entire process from product planning and design to 3D modeling, mechanical and enclosure design, 2D technical drawings, prototyping, and mass-production launch.
From 2002 to 2026, I worked for a Japanese manufacturer, where I was involved in product design, product development, mechanical design, and product planning.
In mechanical and enclosure design, I have professional experience using Autodesk Inventor for 3D part modeling and assembly design, and AutoCAD for 2D manufacturing drawings, part drawings, and assembly drawings. I have designed outdoor lighting equipment using sheet metal, aluminum, steel and aluminum pipes, with consideration for manufacturability, assembly, maintenance, and production processes.
I also specialize in designing three-dimensional products made from flexible materials. I can develop 3D forms from 2D illustrations and design concepts, and create manufacturable flat patterns and sewing patterns from 3D models. My experience includes prototyping, sewing, shape evaluation, design improvement, coordination with external sewing manufacturers, and mass-production development.
I have experience designing and developing products using a wide range of materials, including metals, fabrics, rubber, and plastics. One of my strengths is understanding the different characteristics and manufacturing requirements of both rigid and flexible materials.
My major projects include the development of 300W and 800W LED balloon lighting products for the Japanese, U.S., and European markets, the development of my company's first digital signage product from concept through commercialization, and the joint development of specialized fabrics with a major textile manufacturer.
I also have international manufacturing and product-development experience. I supported the launch of sheet-metal component production in Taiwan, including assembly instruction and quality improvement at the manufacturing site. I have also worked directly with a U.S. distributor and customers to discuss product requirements and improvements and incorporate their feedback into product design.
My primary software experience includes Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, AlphaMyu apparel CAD, CLO, Blender, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop. I also have experience using Autodesk Fusion and FreeCAD.
My key strength is the combination of product design, mechanical design, and soft-goods design. I can take an idea or 2D design and develop it into a practical 3D form, then translate it into technical drawings, patterns, and production-ready data while considering how the product will actually be manufactured.
I am currently working independently in Japan, developing original products and digital content. I am interested in working with clients worldwide on product development, mechanical CAD design, 3D modeling, 2D drafting, product design, and soft-goods design projects.
