• tooling engineer, project engineer, sourcing specialist The Toro Company · Full-time Jan 2004 – Dec 2024 20 yrs 11 mos Shanghai, Shanghai, China Responsibilities: Major business activities within China, interface with US and Europe headquarter teams (global sourcing, project, engineering, tooling, quality) to help them achieve the best cost-effective manufacturing solutions and provide supporting in all aspects in terms of sourcing, factory audit, negotiation, supplier management, mold making, mold try-out, trouble-shooting, engineering and manufacturing process optimization, production audit, quality inspection etc.
  
  Achievements:
   Worked directly with engineering team in USA, UK, Germany overseeing variety of mold build activities (20 sets in average annual) within China, from small precision tools to larger-size complex tools up to 2600T clamp force required.
   Conducted problem solving on some thorny molding issues of creep, warpage, sink mark, crack etc. through taking proper approach of objective analysis, and scientific molding process applied in filling, packing, holding, post-molding etc.
   Established wide network and connection of suppliers for power tool OEM, toolmaking, plastics, Li-ion battery, motor, stamping, die casting, prototyping etc, and well managed 30 key tie1 suppliers with good relationship maintained.
   Heavily involved in or acted as project leader introducing and overseeing multiple finished product projects (8 petrol & battery powered mowers), some key components (large size aluminium chassis, steel deck etc.) projects implementation, progress, follow-up etc from initial conception, specification, pilot run to mass production, quality control and inspection.
   Closely monitored, managed yearly $8 million finished products and $1 million parts sourcing, RFQ, production, delivery and helped establish good understanding communication throughout all relative stockholders. Timely solved all sorts of problems in terms of communication, technique, cost, quality, delivery, escalating supply chain incident etc.
   Achieved 10~20% year on year cost reduction in finished products, key components through cost negotiation, process optimization, new manufacturing method & material recommended, low-cost supplier changes etc.
   Provided strong support in one Chinese company acquisition, audit, integration, injection molding & extrusion workshop operation starting up from equipment invested and procured, plastics material database established, localized. Actively participated manufacturing relocations in tooling condition assessment, material stock checking, counting, transporting.
   Coordinated with TUV to conduct CE & GS test & certificate for 10 garden equipment. Led emission compliance application and 3C certificating for China emission regulation for one model diesel engine.
