A versatile mechanical design engineer. I have designed various machinery including road tankers, containerised generating sets, pumps, compressors, hydraulic mechanical handling equipment and lifting gear. I have received industrial training in the UK from National Grid, the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) and the National Fluid Power Centre (NFPC). I am an expert with Inventor, and competent with Fusion 360 and Solidworks. I have a solid understanding of mechanical design and the practical experience to know how to apply theoretical methods to reality. I can produce comprehensive design substantiation to design standards and legislation using MathCAD and Excel. I can produce comprehensive stress analysis of more complex geometry and loading conditions with FEA in Inventor and ANSYS. I have used FEA for stress analysis of my designs for decades. Whilst working towards my PgDip in Engineering I studied FEA in depth. My final project for my MSc in Engineering was a thermal flow analysis of battery cooling systems using Ansys Fluent. I have solid understanding of key manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, welding, and fitting, having always worked closely with the shop floor, soaking up knowledge and enjoying the camaraderie.
