We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced BESS Product Design Engineer to lead the design and development of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) products in the 261 kWh and 562 kWh capacity range for commercial and industrial (C&I), renewable integration, and microgrid applications.
The candidate will be responsible for complete product engineering, system architecture, electrical and mechanical design, component selection, compliance, documentation, and support for product certification and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Engineering
Design and develop containerized and cabinet-based BESS solutions ranging from 261 kWh to 562 kWh.
Define system architecture including Battery Packs, Racks, BMS, PCS, EMS, HVAC, Fire Suppression System (FSS), and auxiliary systems.
Prepare electrical single-line diagrams (SLD), wiring schematics, and interconnection drawings.
Develop battery pack, rack, and enclosure configurations based on LFP cells (314 Ah, 280 Ah, 628 Ah, etc.).
Perform DC and AC system sizing, short-circuit calculations, protection coordination, and thermal calculations.
Mechanical Design
Develop GA drawings, assembly drawings, and 3D models using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent software.
Design battery cabinets, rack structures, cable routing, cooling arrangements, and maintenance access.
Coordinate enclosure design considering IP rating, thermal management, and fire safety requirements.

Ensure compliance with applicable standards such as IEC 62933, IEC 62619, IEC 62477, IEC 61000, UL 9540, UL 9540A, NFPA 855, and BIS requirements.
Product Development & Validation
Support prototype development, testing, FAT, and product validation.
Coordinate with suppliers for battery cells, BMS, PCS, HVAC, FSS, and enclosure manufacturing.
Analyze field performance and implement design improvements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
3–8 years of experience in BESS, EV battery systems, power electronics, renewable energy, or related industries.
Strong understanding of:
Lithium-ion battery technologies (LFP preferred)
Battery Management Systems (BMS)
Power Conversion Systems (PCS)
EMS/SCADA integration
Thermal management systems
Protection and control schemes
Software Skills
AutoCAD Electrical
SolidWorks / Creo / Inventor
ETAP / DIgSILENT / PSCAD (preferred)
MS Excel and technical documentation tools
Preferred Experience
Experience designing 125 kW / 261 kWh and 250 kW / 562 kWh BESS products.
Knowledge of liquid-cooled and air-cooled BESS architectures.
Experience with product certification and testing.
Familiarity with solar + storage and microgrid applications.
