About the job
We are looking for an experienced structural or mechanical engineer to support the design of a steel mast for a small wind turbine project.
This is not a standard catalogue pole. The mast needs to be designed based on specific loading conditions provided by the client.
Project scope:
We need an engineer who can:
review the given loading conditions
calculate the required mast configuration
propose suitable mast diameter / section sizes / thicknesses
advise whether the mast should be 1-piece or 2-piece
prepare a proposal / concept drawing
estimate the pole weight
consider the structural suitability of the mast for this application, including fatigue-related considerations if relevant
Project data provided by client:
Approximate mast height: 13.45 m
Horizontal force from wind turbine at 15 m: 4,900 N
Horizontal force on mast at 8 m: 3,000 N
Wind turbine weight: 320 kg
Material: steel S235 or S355
Surface treatment: hot-dip galvanizing
Application: outdoor use, wind turbine support mast
Manufacturing preference:
Our production is optimized for steel mast sections up to approximately 12 m in length.
For this reason, we are particularly interested in a polygonal steel mast solution, possibly in 2 sections, with an overlap / slip-joint connection if structurally suitable.
However, the engineer may also propose another technically and economically suitable mast configuration.
Important:
At this stage, we need a proposal / concept design only, not a...

Final manufacturing details can be finalized later.
Deliverables:
brief structural design basis
proposed mast arrangement
preliminary section sizing / dimensioning
concept / proposal drawing
estimated steel weight
notes / assumptions used for the design
Preferred experience:
steel pole / mast / monopole design
wind-loaded steel structures
structural calculations for custom poles
experience with segmented steel poles is a plus
experience with turbine support structures is a plus
To apply, please send:
short introduction
examples of similar projects you have worked on
proposed price
expected delivery time
software you will use for calculations / design
