We are launching Gentle Bean SmoothBrew, a premium drip coffee machine designed to deliver smooth, no-bitterness coffee through innovative brewing technology. We need an experienced product designer and engineer to help us develop a fully functional prototype based on detailed specifications.
Needs,
Bean Selection & Grinding
Use low-acidity Arabica beans (Brazilian/Guatemalan) to naturally reduce bitterness.
Grinder should produce a consistent medium grind to avoid over-extraction of bitter compounds.
Flavor Infusion Chamber
Include a chamber to infuse natural flavor buffers (like cacao nibs, vanilla bean pieces, cinnamon sticks, or oat essence pods) before brewing to soften harsh flavors.
Water Temperature Control
Maintain low or cold water temperatures (around 5–25°C) to minimize acid and bitter extraction — mimicking cold brew principles.
SmoothBrew Pod/Filter
Use a proprietary filter or pod with minerals and pH balancing compounds that neutralize acidity and bitterness during water passage.
Even, Slow Drip Extraction
Ensure water flows evenly and slowly through coffee grounds to avoid over-extraction which causes bitterness.
Material Choices
Use food-safe materials that don’t interact negatively with coffee compounds (e.g., stainless steel, BPA-free plastics).
Testing & Validation
Prototype should include testing for pH and taste profiles to ensure bitterness is minimized.
