I never looked back. Upon leaving Pond Farm, Marguerite said, “You have a lot of talent and ability, but it seems your focus is mostly on girls and cars!” Nonetheless, her tutelage enabled me to receive a MFA from the University of Iowa, which, I believe, was the beginning of the deepest desire to never stop creating and to never stop learning. I have journeyed through the academic world, the incredible creative period of the 60’s and 70’s where Art in the Western world was recreated, through the business world which included a 10 year stay in China, and the beginning of the digital age. 3D modelling portfolio: Ben Fairless artstation Films I have worked on: Ben Fairless IMDB I am an Art Director / Industrial Designer / 3D Modeler from Wellington New Zealand. I have worked on many different films, series, museum exhibitions and public art sculptures while working much of my professional career at Weta Workshop in Wellington. I have also worked internationally for Unlimited Design one of the premier prop shops in the Vancouver film industry and have worked on-set for several film productions directly. I have a tertiary level education studying at Victoria School of Architecture and Design majoring in Industrial Design with a minor in Art History. I am a strong member of any team, working well as a part of a team or as the leader of a team. I can get the best out of people and collaborate successfully with others to execute build plans and create beautiful, finished works. I have a wide variety of practical skills most potent of these are in CAD modelling and digital manufacture specifically CNC machining, 3D printing, and laser cutting. I have also worked in traditional prop making, mold making, urethane casting, costume, painting and set dressing. To add to this, I have a strong ability in graphic and concept design working in Photoshop and CAD software. Strangely enough, I was a recreation therapist for almost 20 years. Prior to that, I earned a degree in fine art and then didn't do too much with it because I became more interested in psychology. Meanwhile, I've had an interest in RC cars and robotics. Leveraging an innate talent for engineering and my previous sculpting prowess, I now own and operate a boutique 3D design and 3D printing studio. From home decor and sculptural objects to machine parts and custom things, I pretty much do it all. I'm experienced in prototyping as well as fine art pieces. My primary design tools are Fusion 360, Meshmixer and Prusa Slicer. I also have 8 high-quality 3D printesr ready to fabricate prototypes or finished products. This includes full-color prints in the following materials, TPU, PLA, PETG, ASA, ABS, PC, nylon as well as reinforced and specialty polymers. I can do post-processing such as vapor smoothing, flame polishing, sealing/coating, bonding and welding.
