Films I have worked on: Ben Fairless IMDB
I am an Art Director / Industrial Designer / 3D Modeler from Wellington New Zealand. I have worked on many different films, series, museum exhibitions and public art sculptures while working much of my professional career at Weta Workshop in Wellington. I have also worked internationally for Unlimited Design one of the premier prop shops in the Vancouver film industry and have worked on-set for several film productions directly. I have a tertiary level education studying at Victoria School of Architecture and Design majoring in Industrial Design with a minor in Art History.
I am a strong member of any team, working well as a part of a team or as the leader of a team. I can get the best out of people and collaborate successfully with others to execute build plans and create beautiful, finished works.
I have a wide variety of practical skills most potent of these are in CAD modelling and digital manufacture specifically CNC machining, 3D printing, and laser cutting. I have also worked in traditional prop making, mold making, urethane casting, costume, painting and set dressing. To add to this, I have a strong ability in graphic and concept design working in Photoshop and CAD software.
Working at Weta Workshop, Unlimited Design and a variety of film sets has allowed me to work in many different stages of the creative manufacture process. This training has resulted in perhaps my best skill of all; working on or leading projects from concept through to completion autonomously being involved in any or all aspects of a creative build from design through to on-set filming or installation.
I have a passion for film particularly sci fi, fantasy and historical genres and take great pride in my work. I am very happy in my profession and am a positive person to work with because of this. I am always open to new opportunities to collaborate on and build interesting projects.
