Description:
-Our company is looking to develop a unique Ice Sphere Storage Tray for 60mm Ice Spheres-The Storage tray will be sold as an Accessory item to our main Ice making unit. (See rendered image attached)
-We would like concepts for a Single holder and a 4 sphere holder (combined bottom portion and individual but identical top pieces)
-You can see a couple simple concepts we have made, These should be elaborated on, although we would like to keep the release feature on the top portion (method for pressing out the ice sphere with no contact necessary).
(See example holders attached)
-Feel free to draft preliminary ideas for feedback before refining. We will be monitoring the project regularly throughout the work week to help provide timely feedback.
Contest will run for 14 days.
Wants:
-A survey of concepts will be conducted and voted on to determine the winners.
Don't Wants:
- Designs/renders similar to the competitors on Amazon.- Cheap look or feel to the product.
Software:
- SolidWorks (2018 or older)

The winner will be posted as soon as I know, I am finishing getting all the designs together and they will be passed around internally where a vote will take place and the winner will be determined. This may take several days but goal is to have this done this week.
Thanks to everyone who submitted a design!

Hi jason
Who is the winner of your contest.
Who is the winner of your contest.
Colour scheme depends on who is going to see these tray. Customer or consumers. You should be more clear about such things. Do you want it to be manufacturing ready and If you do what's the quantity? What is your budget? Who is going to use these tray? As my background is mechanical, I focus on manufacturing centered design so selection of each design element is crucial and depends on availability of manufacturing techniques you have.
For those wanting more feedback, we value highly value a release feature that has a nice aesthetic flow into the top piece. These parts do NOT need to be extremely minimalist, sometimes the engineering approach is to use a constant wall thickness to save material/cost. This gives a predictable design, feel free to get creative and if you use extra material that is fine as long as there is a functional/aesthetic benefit.
Also any renderings that use color should use the color scheme from the main unit, and any design input from the main unit that can be carried over would be a bonus.
Thanks!

Sirchulle, Please mind your language....................we all are designers, please keep the cadcrowd clean and healthy
Sirchulle my understanding comes from the people who run the contest CadCrowd.com

Sirchulle, I don't think call your competitors cunt will help anyone... If you want to not participate it's your choice. If you think it dishonest, clearly explain what is about.
Sirchulle, Thanks for participating! First contest I have ran so if I am not doing it as usual my apologies. As I understand the process winners are selected after the contest ends (up to 14 days after ending) I have been giving feedback when possible, including to you.
Thanks for your submissions!

We cant see image in your comment badly. Maybe you could give feedback on each submission you like. So it will keep blind system for the contest ?
Hi Jason... As this is a blind project, nobody can see each other's image.
There are some of the entries we really like, in no particular order.
Can everyone see the images ok? it deleted my numbers and tried to insert images and on my machine is just text.

interesting holder idea but will probably be to many parts, no release feature except swivel mechanism which may be complicated.
Like the knob on top just less of the faceted diamond shapes and bottom needs to be improved, interlocking design is neat.
All of Mecanikads release features are pretty good, seem to have a good flow while maintaining a release feature that seems practical.
&
Seems to follow our design styling and color scheme, also having a locking lid might be good for awkward storage space in freezer. Ring on top looks ergonomic.
holding a release feature are maybe a little too pronounced but it looks like it would hold and release the Ice Sphere effectively.
The flow and aesthetics are great, color scheme and eagle on top need to be improved.
Hi Jason, Could you rate the submission as you tell in your brief to allow design improvement and make sure designers goes in the right direction please ?
Thanks in advance,

Yes the whole idea is to be creative! Please see the description for what is necessary, mainly 60mm diameter and release feature built into the mold.
Thanks!

Hi Jason. You could have more entries by giving us some feedback for the current designs.
Hi, do we have to make it exactly identical? is it any room for creativity?
Thank you very much for details, will put all efforts to bring up innovative design solutions, Thank you! :)

They intent is to have a release method built into the silicone rubber piece, so when the user presses/squeeze's the Ice Sphere will then come out of the top portion. Ice tongs maybe be included by us but should not be necessary for this product.
Thanks!

Hi, Jason,
Have only 1 doubt, it will be helpful, if you if you advise on this, Thank you! :)
from your 4th point in your description "we would like to keep the release feature on the top portion (method for pressing out the ice sphere with no contact necessary)"
do you mean to have some vacuum lock like rubber element??, Or you just need a gripping surface for fingers to hold top portion??, will you use ice cube tongs??

Revolutionary Meditation Bench
A standard meditation bench made of wood gets a makeover. We are looking to create a fully-adjustable, lightweight, travel version of a wooden meditation bench for manufacture via injection molding (plastic). Here is a reference for what it usually looks like (not what we are making):
http://www.samadhicushions.com/Meditation-Bench-Seiza-Kneeling-Bench-p/C-564.htm?Click=9556
The bench consists of 2 legs, of the same size, 7.5 inches tall. Atop is a main sitting piece, which is at right angles to the legs and is 18 inches long and 7 inches deep. All parts are ½ inch thick, or thinner.
The bench needs to be able to support the weight of an adult.
The main sitting piece (piece “A” in the sketch) needs to be rotational such that it can be tilted forward in order to create an angled seating platform. This adjustment is to conform to the seating angle of the meditator to create comfortable sitting position. The piece must lock out once in place at the desired setting, in order to provide stability while sitting on it (aka it does not move).
The legs must also be retractable, such that they fold in towards the main sitting piece in some manner, in order to make the bench small and practical for travelling or storage. When folded, teethe assembly should ideally be no more than 1 inch thick.

Smart Hub Enclosure Design
We control how power flows through your home. This device, a hub device, orchestrator, controller, manager, is a small electronic appliance will sit on the table or bookcase in homes. It functions similarly to a home automation hub (e.g. Smart Things, Wink, etc.), but is smarter than a hub. It connects to smart meters, home Z-wave automation equipment, Wi-Fi networks and Ethernet. When you’re using too much power, it throttles back your home’s usage. When more power is available, it throttles usage back up.
It needs to look good, look modern, simple but elegant. We’re trying to exude confidence, control, action, durability. It needs to fit in with a modern home and look good. Attached are model files of that include the minimum features of the circuit boards and connectors. Also included are drawings of the components included on the circuit boards as well as additional pictures/descriptions of the circuit board stack. Start with the “Enclosure Presentation” file and go from there.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The bottom circuit board component/connector placement is fixed (cannot be moved/altered). The top circuit board model file currently shows 4 LEDs. These LEDs indicate system status for Wi-Fi/Ethernet Network, Smart Meter Connection, Z-Wave Device Connection and Cloud Connection. This configuration may be changed and we expect it to change, multiple colors and/or other arrangements may be used, but we must be able to at least indicate status for these 4 systems. It would be nice to indicate, in addition to blinking status for example, motion or activity in the system.
The design does NOT have to have draft built into the model for the contest, but the designer must be able to add draft (for additional fee) after the prototype has been approved. Think about how this would/could be molded when designing.
The output will be 3D Generic CAD files (i.e. step files) + Native 3D CAD.
