Description:
Hello! We are looking for creative and talented people to present a unique Running Board (RB) design. The RB will be mass produced for a next generation full sized pickup truck. Currently, there are many universal RB varieties on the market but most all share a similar design that adds little to the trucks appeal.
We are looking for a RB with appealing and unique geometry that can be manufactured at a reasonable price. We are also interested in incorporating a contemporary mix of materials, material finishes, textures, and accentuated lighting in a unique way. Please see our attached pdf file to see lighting products that are available.
Things to consider:
We have created a vision board (SEE ATTACHMENTS) with design elements we like for reference and inspiration.
We have created mock-ups of running board designs with unique geometry and with individual pros and cons labeled. If presented in a photo-realistic render, incorporating contrasting materials, textures and possibly lighting, one of these may prove to be what we are looking for.
Please note these mock-ups are poorly presented because of the lack of rendering software, not because of poor geometric design.
Color is typically matte black, gloss black, red, or chrome although these are not limitations.
Words that come to mind: Rugged, modern, sleek, unique

Wants:
Presentation - We have very high priority on the contrast of material finishes and understand presenting this may pose a problem for those of you unfamiliar with rendering programs. Please take this into account when submitting your design.Function - Needs to act as a functional step platform for entering the vehicle
Creative Approach - Needs to add to the vehicles total style rather than solely functionality (geometry, color scheme, texture contrast, lighting)
Cost to Manufacture - Needs to be reasonably low cost to make. Understanding of manufacturing methods would be beneficial
Don't Wants:
The old school tube extrusion with end cap style. This style is available off the shelf in many varieties and adds no artistic appeal to the overall vehicle look.

@coldmonk Short answer is yes, in the past we have used injection molding for step pads and end caps.

@Luka B - Thank you for the input! Sorry, I don't we were clear in the prompt. We have a strong CAD and FEA team but we lack creativity and realistic rendering capabilities, and we estimate volumes upwards of 100,000 units. Regarding the constraints, we purposely chose to leave creative wiggle room because we are interested in designs never done before. Something that catches the eye on a dealership lot. Yes, a design that can only be accomplished by CNC and manual welds will likely not be feasible, but if we can take features from that design and incorporate them in a cost effective way - it may be a winner. In general, we would rather time be taken to mock up a second unique concept, than to prove a stress analysis or rethink manufacturability of the first. I hope that helps and please let us know if there are anymore questions!
Additionally, how many do you plan to produce as that plays a major role on manufacturing route selection. I'm sure people will post good looking designs, but as you stated yourself, they need to be manufacturable in a cost efficient way.
I'm not sure yet if I will compete but either way, giving too much free space isn't necessarily a plus. In order to get good entries, I would suggest you to: 1) add the preffered manufacturing process and material (eg. Injection moulding, injection overmoulding (plastics+metal), sheet metal pressing...); 2) mounting dimensions and mounting type; 3) even though you are primarily interested in the design, the part still has to withstand the driver's weight when stepping on it - stress analysis... These are just some points that I think you should consider when looking for product like this.

Mini Transparent Oled Tv/ Picture Frame
Can I have a 3d design and renders on a mini transparent streaming tv/picture frame?
The tv will look like a picture in a picture frame than can change to a tv.
There will be apps on the screen: Netflix, Kodi, Alexa, Facebook, Skype, Youtube, Mobdro, Pandora, Hulu, Instagram, Twitter & Chrome Web Browser.
Can it have a mic and camera?
The tv will be bluetooth and wifi can you show the picture representing that.
It will have a small remote for the tv.
The charging cable can disconnect to become portable.
Can it be 3 renders:
1. To show a family picture in frame
2. Transparent screen with Apps features
3. Transparent Movie playing on screen or show movie pictures to choose from.
Vehicular LED Display Case
I am prototyping a display for a startup that will be mounted on the tops of vehicles. It will eventually be either CNC milled or 3D printed, depending on the material decided on. For this display I am looking for a sleek case design that also meets the specifications below.
The display panel itself is 81.75625 cm x 15.24 cm and needs to be able to slide into and out of the case when a side panel is removed. The electronics are mounted on the back of the display panel and require a clearance of 5.08 cm. There needs to be a source of ventilation for the electronics except on the top as it will be outdoors, as well as one usb port and space for the power cable on the bottom of the display case. For the feet, they will be made of magnets with quite a strong pull force that have been dipped in rubber to prevent scratching. This also needs to be accounted for in the design with there being 3 to 4 feet supporting the case.
There are other cases for various products that need to be designed/redesigned, so we would like to find somebody to work with through this contest.
