Contest Ended, Winner(s) have been selected.
Description:
We are looking to produce a custom ruggedized "case" for a professional 3D scanning instrument. This instrument is often used on construction job sites, and the threat of damage due to drops or falls is quite high. We envision a 1/2" dense foam "cage" of sorts that will fit over the body of the scanner. Please see the attached 3D model, video and pictures for a more complete idea of our needs.
Wants:
Winning design must primarily provide protection for the instrument in the event of a fall. Additional considerations will be for ergonomics of handling the scanner (i.e. ridges on the side of the case to enhance grip), manufacturability, ventilation to the instrument, etc. Again, please see attached model, video and pictures.

Congrats! Fantastic design entry.

@cadgeek
just started today,...any chances you can extend a day or two?
If this contest could be extended and the proper info (i.e. step) of the model would be given, there would be more entries
can you please extend the date for a day or two
thank you!
thank you!
Unfortunately, I won't be able to get the .igs or .step files in time before this contest ends. My primary computer won't be repaired in time.
If you can, please work with the .ply file. I understand if the dimensions aren't exactly perfect. We will make whatever slight modifications at a later date if necessary. Thanks again!

The problem with a ply file is that even if you reverse engineer it, there will be issues with exact dimensions and ultimately lead to an improper fitting. So if you can provide a step/ iges file, the fitments can be checked properly. I request you to upload the neutral format files and increase the time frame for the contest for a good response.
My apologies on the delays getting the .step and .igs files for everybody. My computer that I was doing the modeling on died. Trying to get it back up and running ASAP.
if anyone can give me the files that will be nice.! ;)
Hello,
Where is the STEP file you talking about? where the action is?
thank you for giving me something to work if you want more participants !
Thanks

Ideally, we would like to have the plastic cover remain in place. Thanks!

This scanner is marketed under a few names. Trimble TX5, FARO Focus 120, FARO X30, FARO X130 and FARO X330. Dimensions are identical for each different model. Thanks!

Will the cage sit above the plastic cover or you are gonna remove the plastic cover and use just the cage instead of that?
Hello James
What is the brand of scanner?

Yeah .stp file will cool, cus am finding problem opening the .ply file format
@stylexdesign
Dimensions should be based off of the .ply model that I have uploaded. I will be uploading a .stp file shortly. Thanks!

Yes. The clearance between the top of the instrument and the existing plastic protection is only 1/32". Thanks for the question!

Thank you for commenting on this project. I am looking for a cover that will remain in place during the use of the instrument. I have uploaded a .ply mesh of the instrument. I will also be uploading a .stp file shortly.

Plate Sauce Cup
- Looking for concepts for a sauce cup that, by way of a solid, useable mechanism, can be attached to the outside edge of a plate, so that a wide variety of sauces can be placed in it
- this item will allow you to keep sauces, like ketchup, gravy or plum sauce, etc off the plate, so they don't mix ... AND you have more room for food on your plate.
- must be curved to follow the edge of a plate's edge
- material will most likely be plastic - must be dishwasher safe
- 3 sizes - dinner plate (10in diameter), salad plate (8in diameter), and cheese/tea/dessert plate (7in diamter)
- look to have a logical and functional means of clamping the cup to the plate - my thoughts are one or two hinges, so think of ease of construction, as well as being able to be easily opened (yet strong holding power). Alternate means of clamping will be considered.
- Feel free to provide a design for a sauce cup that has 2 or 3 distinct "compartments" to house different sauces (in each separate compartment) at the same time.
Stiletto Girl Shoe Design
Ok,so I have a design patent pending for a design of stiletto shoe, with a girl on the heel, which doubles as a pole. This will be a novelty product, sold in places like Spencer's gift stores, novelty stores etc. Additionally in places like Vegas etc.
We plan on having different size products, from key chains to maybe a 7-9 inch version. Plans are for the product to be made out of of plastic.
The goal for this project is to come up with a 3D model to enable us to create our first prototype, which will either be via 3D printing or traditional plastic.
manufacturing.
The drawings from the patent application are attached.
