We’ve always got an assortment of CAD design contests underway at Cad Crowd. It’s always quite a medley, from new product designs to architecture, and there’s no telling what the next content might be. With thousands of designers in the Cad Crowd community, a design challenge always produces some interesting results. Here’s 5 contests that going on now!
1. Mini Transparent OLED/TV Picture Frame Product Design by Samadoni
The purpose of this techy design contest is to come up with a futuristic portable TV/OLED picture frame type thing with a pretty spiffy transparent screen. The device is intended to serve three purposes: to function as an electronic picture frame that can be used to display the user’s own pictures, a transparent screen for use with apps, and as a screen to stream movies and TV shows on. Not long ago, this stuff would have been for Star-Trek only. And now here we are.
2. Rhombicuboctahedron 3D Printing Design by MAINAK MITRA
The challenge here is to design a rhombicuboctahedron (that’s a real word, preposterously). The buyer here is looking for an outer rhombicuboctahedron with an inner rhombicuboctahedron nested within, each one consisting of two pieces. All four pieces are meant to be 3D printed.
3. Inlaying Metal in Wood CAD Drafting & Design by Mahbub
The buyer in this one is looking for help producing some retro-futuristic looking lettering to be inlaid in wood. They’ve got the tools to do it, but need a bit of help producing the required CAD files. The idea is to cut out a negative for the wood, and a positive for the metal, and to then insert the latter into the former.
4. Floating Seed Sprouter Product Design by sldraftingdesign
This device is meant to float above a cup to provide an environment to sprout seeds. The sprouter is meant to be height-adjustable depending on the seed being sprouted, and to float while supporting up to 100g of weight. This pretty design is simple, colorful, and fun.
5. ROBERT the Rehabilitation Robot 3D Modeling Design by Adam
Meet ROBERT! ROBERT is a rehabilitation robot designed to help people more efficiently recover and help care workers with some of the heavy lifting. The goal of this design challenge is to come up with a clean, robust design for ROBERT that captures the brand and has the right kind of medical look.
