About this service

Mechanical Design Engineer | SolidWorks & Fusion 360 | Manufacturing-Ready CAD

I turn ideas, sketches, and rough concepts into production-ready CAD models - built to actually get manufactured, not just look good on screen.

My design work is grounded in manufacturing feasibility from the first sketch: components for CNC machining, laser and plasma cutting, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and mechanical assemblies. Every model I hand over is checked for accuracy, functionality, and DFM before it reaches you - so what you get isn't just a 3D file; it's a part that's ready to be made.

What I Design:
- Mechanical product design, from concept to CAD
- SolidWorks part & assembly modeling
- Sheet metal design and flat-pattern development
- CNC machining–ready components
- Laser and plasma cutting parts
- 3D printing–ready models (STL)
- Reverse engineering from images, PDFs, or sketches
- Prototype development

What I Document:
- Manufacturing drawings with GD&T
- Engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Assembly exploded views
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Design modifications and CAD file conversion

Deliverables
SLDPRT · SLDASM · STEP · IGES · STL · DXF · DWG · Parasolid (X_T) · PDF drawings · BOM

Questions and answers

Depending on your needs, I deliver STEP, IGES, STL, DXF, DWG, PDF drawings, and a Bill of Materials (BOM). Let me know your required format upfront and I'll match it including compatibility with your downstream CAM, CNC, or manufacturing software.

Yes. I regularly reverse-engineer designs from hand sketches, reference photos, PDFs, or an existing part with no drawings available. I'll ask clarifying questions on dimensions or tolerances where the source material is ambiguous, rather than guessing.

Hourly is built for exactly that. We start with a short call or message thread to align on your goal, I give you a realistic estimate of hours for the first milestone, and I check in before scope expands significantly — so you're never surprised by the hours logged. Ongoing or evolving projects are a good fit for this format.

Every design goes through a DFM check as part of the process — material thickness, tolerances, bend allowances, tool access, and cost-driving features are reviewed before you receive the final files. If something you've specified will be expensive or difficult to manufacture, I'll flag it and suggest an alternative rather than silently modeling it as-is.

Yes. I treat every client's design, specifications, and business context as confidential by default, and I'm glad to work under Cad Crowd's NDA terms or sign your own NDA if you have one.
