About
VED — Virtual Engineering & Dynamics — is an engineering research and development firm focused on simulation-driven design, structural performance, and engineering innovation.
We help businesses, product developers, and research teams investigate engineering challenges, evaluate concepts, and improve designs through computational analysis. Our approach connects research with practical engineering: understanding the problem, identifying the governing physical behaviour, testing design alternatives, and developing evidence to support the next stage of development.
Our core capability is advanced finite element analysis using Abaqus and ANSYS, supported by Python and MATLAB for automation, data analysis, and engineering calculations.
WHAT WE DO
Engineering Research & Feasibility Studies
We investigate engineering concepts, review relevant technical literature, identify critical performance requirements, and develop analysis strategies. This helps clients understand technical uncertainties and define a practical development path.
Simulation-Driven Design & Development
We assess how components and structures respond to loads, temperatures, contact, and material behaviour. By comparing design alternatives, we help identify opportunities to improve strength, stiffness, stability, material utilisation, and overall performance.
Advanced Structural & Thermal Analysis
Our capabilities include nonlinear structural analysis, heat transfer, sequential thermal–structural analysis, buckling and post-buckling, contact interactions, and selected cyclic and dynamic problems.
Material & Interface Behaviour
We model concrete, steel, fibre-reinforced cementitious materials, masonry, and composite structural systems. Areas of focus include cracking, crushing, plasticity, bond–slip, cohesive interfaces, friction, and debonding.
Validation & Performance Evaluation
We compare simulation results with available experimental measurements, analytical solutions, or published benchmarks. We investigate differences, assess sensitivity to modelling assumptions, and explain the confidence and limitations associated with the results.
Parametric Research & Design Relationships
We develop structured numerical investigations to examine the influence of geometry, material properties, loading, and operating conditions. These studies can support design recommendations, performance relationships, and engineering equations within clearly defined limits.
Engineering Automation & Custom Tools
We use Python and MATLAB to automate repetitive analysis tasks, extract results, process datasets, and develop calculation workflows that make engineering investigations more efficient and repeatable.
OUR CURRENT TECHNICAL STRENGTHS
• Structural and civil engineering R&D.
• Steel, concrete, and composite structural systems.
• Concrete-filled steel tubular members.
• Fire-exposed and post-fire structural behaviour.
• Strengthening and rehabilitation of masonry systems.
• Nonlinear material and interface modelling.
• Monotonic and reversed cyclic response.
• Experimental–numerical correlation.
• Parametric modelling and simulation automation.
OUR DEVELOPMENT APPROACH
1. Define the engineering problem and intended application.
2. Review existing knowledge, reference data, and technical constraints.
3. Establish the research or development methodology.
4. Build and verify computational models.
5. Evaluate performance and compare design alternatives.
6. Validate against available evidence.
7. Deliver findings, recommendations, and priorities for further development or physical testing.
PROJECT DELIVERABLES
Depending on the scope, we provide feasibility assessments, simulation models, analysis files, performance comparisons, parametric datasets, engineering plots, automation scripts, and technical reports.
Our reports explain the findings, assumptions, limitations, and recommended next steps so clients can use the work to make development decisions.
WHO WE WORK WITH
We support businesses developing engineering products, manufacturers investigating component performance, engineering consultants requiring specialist analysis, and academic teams conducting applied research.
WHY VED?
VED combines a structural engineering research background with practical simulation experience. We approach each assignment as an engineering investigation, connecting the analysis to the question the client needs answered.
Our objective is to help clients move from an idea or unresolved technical problem toward a better-understood, evaluated, and improved engineering solution.
Share your concept, design challenge, or research objective to discuss a suitable R&D scope, deliverables, and timeline.

Principal Technical Consultant
VEDYNAMICS LLP · Full-time

As Founder and Engineering R&D Lead at VED — Virtual Engineering & Dynamics, I lead the firm’s technical direction, project delivery, and business development. I translate client requirements into research and simulation workflows, define analysis methods, and evaluate results to support engineering decisions.
My technical work includes nonlinear finite element analysis, thermal–structural simulation, material and interface modelling, and experimental validation using Abaqus and ANSYS. I also use Python and MATLAB for automation and data analysis.
Alongside project execution, I manage client acquisition, proposals, scope, pricing, and communication. I identify opportunities to expand VED’s capabilities from specialised analysis into simulation-driven design and product development. My focus is to build an engineering R&D firm that connects research, computational analysis, and practical design improvement.
Education
-
Vellore Institute of Technolgy, Vellore
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Structural Engineering
2018 – 2024
With a background in civil and structural engineering and doctoral research on the post-fire behaviour of composite columns, I combine research methods with practical finite element modelling. My experience includes nonlinear structural analysis, thermal–structural simulation, material damage, contact and interface behaviour, and experimental validation.
My primary tools are Abaqus and ANSYS, supported by Python and MATLAB for modelling automation, data processing, and engineering calculations. I have worked on steel–concrete composite members, concrete-filled steel tubes, masonry strengthening, and structural systems subjected to thermal, monotonic, and cyclic loading.
I approach each project by first understanding the engineering question. I review the available evidence, establish suitable assumptions, develop the analysis methodology, and interpret the results in relation to the intended application. I pay particular attention to validation and clearly explaining what a model can reliably demonstrate.
Through VED, I work with businesses, engineering teams, and researchers on simulation-led R&D, performance assessment, and design improvement. My goal is to turn complex engineering questions into useful findings and practical development decisions.
If you need support investigating a concept, assessing a design, or developing a validated numerical model, I’d be glad to discuss your project.
