I’m a CAD/CAM Technician at Autolaunch Ltd, part of Magna International, in Ireland. I work daily in CATIA V5 and Siemens NX on surfacing, overlays and design, and I write 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling programs in WorkNC.
I also use 3D laser scanning and PolyWorks to turn scan data into clean NURBS CAD models, ideal for reverse engineering and recreating parts with no existing drawings.
My background on the shop floor as a laser operator (Trumpf and Prima Power) means I design with manufacturing in mind.
I write Python scripts to automate CATIA V5 and have published PyCATIA scripts and a custom CATIA menu tool on GitHub.
