About
I am Dr Jim Yip, a Chartered Engineer with a PhD in Microwave Engineering and over 25 years of industrial R&D experience. Through Cantor Technologies Ltd, I help clients resolve RF problems, assess technical feasibility and develop practical engineering plans.
Specialist services:
• RF, microwave, mmWave and antenna design reviews
• Radar architecture, calibration and measurement investigations
• Independent fault finding and root-cause analysis
• RF interconnects, transitions, packaging and isolation
• Cryogenic RF and quantum hardware consultancy
• Technical feasibility reviews and invention development
My experience spans automotive radar, semiconductor verification, satellite communications, microwave metrology and quantum hardware. At the National Physical Laboratory, I developed millimetre-wave impedance standards and calibration methods. Other achievements include E-band transceiver development, W-band low-noise amplifier design, high-isolation RF hardware and manufacturing-aware 3D RF packaging. I am an inventor on granted RF patents, including three UK patents held by Cantor Technologies.
Available for focused advisory sessions, independent technical reviews and short-term project support. Remote consultancy for clients across the UK and Europe. Deliverables can include a concise findings report, prioritised corrective actions and a practical validation plan.
Please message me with your problem, available design or measurement information, and required outcome.
