About
I am a German-qualified electrical engineer (B.Eng., Electrical Engineering - Energy and Information Technology) with more than seven years of experience in electrical MEP design for buildings. I work remotely as a design and BIM resource for MEP consultants, architects and contractors, producing complete and coordinated electrical documentation under the direction of your Engineer of Record.
My day-to-day work covers power distribution, from service, feeder and branch layouts to load and short-circuit calculations, voltage drop, cable and conduit or tray sizing, panel schedules and single-line diagrams. On the lighting side I handle interior, exterior and egress lighting with illuminance calculations and layouts in DIALux evo. I also cover low-voltage and ELV systems such as telecom and data, fire alarm layouts, access control and security, together with earthing and lightning protection.
What I hand over are full construction document sets with plan drawings, schedules, details, specifications and tender documents. I model in Revit MEP, run clash detection in Navisworks and exchange IFC. I am equally comfortable taking over incomplete or inconsistent drawings, checking them for code compliance, constructability and coordination conflicts, and reissuing a clean, buildable set. I work through schematic design, design development and construction documents, which corresponds to German HOAI phases 1 to 8, including as-built and revision documentation.
I design to international standards and adapt to the code framework of each project, including NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 72, IES, ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, IEC, BS and the European VDE, DIN and EN standards. Project experience covers hospitals and clinics, government and police facilities, offices, hotels, schools and industrial and logistics buildings, among them a police headquarters, a US clinic, a university hospital, an ICE rail depot, a steel production facility and a four-star hotel.
Software I use daily: Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, DIALux evo, Simaris Design, Caneco BT and PV*SOL. I work fully remote with fast turnaround, I am fluent in English and German, and I am available for one-off packages as well as ongoing overflow capacity.
