I came to mechanical design through years of welding and fabrication. That experience shapes how I work: I think about how a part will be made, how an assembly goes together, and what happens when someone needs to repair it. I use Fusion 360 to design custom machinery and components, with production drawings and bills of materials to support the build.

I devote attention to practical constraints whether you’re starting with a sketch, modifying an existing part, or working through a new problem.

Mechanical design engineeer Richmond Machine & Welding · Full-time Aug 2021 – Present 5 yrs 1 mos Whitehall, PA, USA Design custom machinery and components in Fusion 360, develop the corresponding production drawings and bills of material, and work directly with fabricators and machinists during the build.

Introduced the shop’s first 3D printer for rapid prototyping and lower-cost production of replacement parts, including plain bearings.

Cut the weight of a legacy modular machine frame from about 5,000 pounds to less than 1,500 pounds by replacing its welded construction with a bolted, knock-down design that ships on standard pallets.
