It requires understanding the user, identifying unmet needs, creating an appealing and functional product concept, engineering it for manufacture, prototyping and testing it, and finally building a strong brand and market presence around it. Product design is the practice of shaping how a product works, feels, and fits into people’s lives.  It sits at the intersection of user needs and business goals. A product that users love but that can’t sustain a business won’t survive, and a product that hits revenue targets but frustrates its users won’t last either. Product design focuses on the strategy and direction of a product.
