About
I am a principal engineer with 12 years of experience developing complex electromechanical systems, injection-molded assemblies, and medical devices. My background spans mechanical design, embedded electronics, and firmware integration, allowing me to take products from early concept through prototyping, testing, and production. I also operate a small in‑house machine shop, which supports rapid iteration.
What I deliver:
- Injection‑molded plastic part design in SolidWorks
- Tooling‑ready CAD with proper draft, gating, shrinkage, and parting line control
- Production‑ready drawings with GD&T
- DFM for mass‑production plastics
- Hands‑on prototyping and mechanical validation through my in‑house machine shop
- Embedded firmware development in C++ and Python for motor drivers and various sensors
- Electromechanical test fixtures and lab automation

Experience
- Lead Design Engineer Salman Engineering · Full-time Jan 2026 – Present 4 mos San Diego, CA, United States Designing and building electromechanical systems for medical devices.
- Principal Design Engineer Modular Medical · Full-time May 2025 – Jan 2026 8 mos San Diego, CA, United States Designing the next generation of wearable Insulin pumps
- Principal Design Engineer Abbott Laboratories · Full-time Apr 2022 – May 2025 3 yrs 1 mos San Diego, CA, United States As the technical lead for a multidisciplinary engineering team, I drove the development of next-generation rapid diagnostic instruments. I specialize in electro-mechanical system design, overseeing complex architectures that integrate clamping, fluid movement, high-frequency mixing, and thermal energy transfer. Additionally, I develop firmware for motor drivers, pressure sensors, IR sensors, and thermal control systems while designing opto-mechanical mounting structures for advanced detection systems.
- Senior Design Engineer Genalyte · Full-time Jul 2019 – Mar 2022 2 yrs 8 mos San Diego, CA, United States Designed automation systems and robotics for a blood diagnostics platform, integrating UR3 robotic arms for consumable handling. I engineered automated testing modules featuring motors, solenoids, and sensors, contributing to high-precision microfluidic housing designs. My expertise in metrology enabled the development of comprehensive measurement programs to ensure product accuracy and reliability.
- Hardware Engineer Verily Life Sceinces · Full-time Jun 2018 – May 2019 11 mos San Francisco, CA, United States Redesigned optical casting molds to enhance accuracy and reduce monochromatic aberrations, utilizing interferometry for verification. I established a rapid prototyping line and designed aluminum injection molds while leveraging DOE methodologies to optimize molding parameters.
- Manufacturing Process Engineer Zoll Medical Inc · Full-time May 2016 – Jun 2018 2 yrs 1 mos San Jose, CA, United States Managed in-house injection molding operations for catheter development, coordinating with vendors to fabricate precision components. Revamped entire molding operation with new plastic loading system, mold storage rack, mold transfer system, pneumatic manifolds, and mold maintenance station. I also implemented risk-based DFMEA strategies and verification test protocols while optimizing molding processes through scientific methodologies.
- Mechanical Engineer Vortran Medical · Full-time Aug 2014 – Apr 2016 1 yrs 8 mos Sacramento, CA, United States Working at a small company, I wore many hats and played a diversified role in engineering operations. The most significant takeaway from my time at Vortran was my skills as a machinist. I ground my own tools, constructed my own fixturing, and gained a comprehensive understanding of GD&T.
