Education

  • Université du Québec à Montréal – UQÀM Specialized Graduate Diploma - DESS, Transportation Design, 7 2018 – 2020 Activities and Societies: null General Objective of the Program:
The DESS aims to train university graduates (with relevant prior education) in the design of transportation equipment and objects or systems of objects that promote the mobility of individuals and goods. In terms of transportation equipment design, the DESS focuses on the safety of transportation users, the health and safety of workers in the transportation equipment manufacturing industry, the design of equipment that reduces environmental risks, and advocates for a design approach that is sensitive to user needs and the efficiency of the design process. Future designers will need to be capable of planning and managing complex R&D projects within multidisciplinary teams composed of various co-designers (engineers, ergonomists, manufacturers, managers, marketing specialists, users, etc.). Future designers may work in the transportation equipment manufacturing industry or in related sectors (maintenance, transportation services, consulting, etc.). Specific Objectives:
The DESS specifically aims to develop skills that can lead to the management of transportation equipment and vehicle projects (history of innovations in transportation and mobility, user-centered design, human components, environmental impacts, R&D processes). Through learning these skills, students will be able to develop critical thinking about the social issues of transportation and mobility, both individually and collectively.
