Gillette Design Studio concept emerged as an idea in the summer of 2018 as a result of a daunting task in renovating a rental home that was in much needed repairs. We familiarized ourselves with the documentation necessary to obtain the appropriate permits from the city. On hindsight, going through the maze of the permit process, was easier than spending a fortune in hiring someone to prepare and draw our construction drawings. We decided to prepare our own construction drawings. Well, it worked out. The plans were approved and we were able to get the renovation permitted. Hence, our concept was born. To provide affordable drafting services while sharing useful information. Gillette Design Studio provides affordable architectural drafting and measurement services to homeowners, contractors, architects, engineers, realtors and interior designers. I am a design engineer with experience in designing products and tooling for both low- and high-volume manufacturing. Whether you need to reverse-engineer a broken component, model your on-shored product, model and render a new product or concept, produce RFQ-ready technical drawings with full GD&T, or develop quality, easy-to-use tooling/jigs/fixtures for your manufacturing line, I can do it! I am a Certified SolidWorks Professional and an expert in Fusion360 - licenses for both of which I own. In particular, I excel at building parametric, equation-driven models and design tables at the part, sub-assembly, and top-level assembly levels. I am also experienced at parametrically linking Solidworks drawings for automatic information updates. My manufacturing experience includes injection molding, thermoforming, extrusion, acoustic felt, sheet metal, steel/concrete pipe, additive manufacturing, 3-axis CNC, and product assembly. I've reverse-engineered, designed, and revised hundreds of custom products and tools. I have worked the production floor myself, so I know what to look for and ask about when designing for production. At 16 I started in my families machine shop, I learned machining, sheet metal, tooling, injection molding tooling and machine programming. I received my BSME degree from (CSUN) and went to design the first aircraft inflight folding wheelchair to meet the ADA for access to flight. I worked with the design team that developed the first aircraft coffee maker and on-board ovens. I have complete 17 FAA-STC's from galleys trash compactors and serving carts. in 2022 I completed the latest FAA certification far a coffee maker.
