I am a hard working, detail oriented mechanical engineering student looking to further my knowledge and understanding of complex concepts and ideas. I love the ability to challenge myself to gain advanced skills and practical knowledge. I take pride in my hard work ethic and my ability to see concepts from a manufacturing point of view. I have both design and fabrications experience and I understand the lack communication and understanding regarding the ability to manufacture. I have had the experience in school of replicating a stapler in both 2D and 3D CAD, this was then 3D printed and was fully functional. Also I designed a CAD model of a go-kart that met the requirements of functional suspension and fully functional steering including linkage. I am a passionate, fresh designer with a natural talent for visual design. My personal focus is on architecture and interior spaces, but my creative and practical approach has a wide range of uses. I use Revit the most, and I can create components (families), floorplans, 3D and photorealistic renders, section views, and more. I am also skilled at AutoCAD and can create isometric, 2D, and 3D drawings and blocks. I operated my own business in designing and building furniture and decor items for personal clients and have designed and built nearly all the furniture in my own home. I am harnessing my lifetime experience of design and building, and honing my new CADD skills to build a portfolio that showcases my style. Largely self-taught, I increase my knowledge daily in architectural modeling and design through structured practice, heavy research, and practical application (designing objects by hand or in CAD and then building them myself). Grew up in Northern California. My father was a mechanical engineer and prolific inventor who taught me about innovation in his fully equipped workshop in a converted horse stable. I went to Japan when I turned 18, on invitation by Kobun Chino Otogawa to participate in an informal cultural exchange. Lived and worked with Kanjuro Shibata, bow-maker to the emperor, and Zen archery master in Kyoto for about 2 years. Instead of returning to the US as planned, I continued across fascinating Asia for 1 year and then studied and worked in Paris, France for 7 years as a fine artist. Then I returned to California, built on to a cabin and added a studio. Started an art and design studio and contract design service for manufacturers and suppliers to big box retailers for about 10 years. Then I moved to Austin, Texas and worked for Philips Lighting as head designer, (senior manager, R+D) for 11 years, and led a design team. My designs won a number of innovation and design awards and were on the cutting edge of LED lighting, as well as extremely market-successful. In 2017, decided to become an independent designer again, as well as an investor, (instead of moving to Boston to continue my rewarding corporate career with Philips). Born and raised in Houston, Texas. I completed high school in Conroe, Texas (Conroe High School) and was accepted to attend studies at Texas A & M University. Due to a life changing event I was unable to complete my studies there and returned home to be employed by the local electric utility company, Gulf States Utilities. Hired as a line helper in 1979, I worked in construction and maintenance of the electrical utility facilities working my way up thru the ranks from helper to apprentice lineman then to lineman 4th class then to lineman 3rd class. Once I had achieved 3rd class I was able to transition to the service department where I was trusted to work on a truck by myself unsupervised working customer service tickets and troubleshooting outages that occurred on the lines. In 1991 Gulf States Utilities was purchased by Entergy and around this time I transitioned back into the line crew in the Woodlands Network to continue construction and maintenance work on most underground but occasionally overhead lines as well. April of 1999 I transferred to the Design West group of Entergy Texas, Inc. as an Engineer Assistant and a short time later, I earned the title of Senior Engineer Assistant. I presently continue to hold that title. My present job description entails meeting with customers to determine their electrical needs, design Entergy's facilities to serve these customers, procure easements for Entergy's facilities, draft contracts and collect contributions and assemble construction job packets to hand off to our line crews to build. During the last 18 years of my employment, I have used MS Office Suite's Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Access and I have used Auto CAD on a daily basis and in the past 4 years I have used GIS, Pole Foreman and other software.

I love to create and build from the idea to the physical product. Having the knowledge on how the components are to be made allows for reduced waste and quick prototypes to be returned to your hand!
