I’m a freelance mechanical designer and lean consultant based in Belgium, running my own technical bureau: Verta Machinery. My background: - Bachelor in Design & Production Technology - Certified in Lean Management - Several years of hands-on experience with industrial machinery (balers, compactors, steel structures, conveyors and custom equipment), from design to maintenance and optimisation What I do for clients: 1) CAD & Mechanical Design (mainly SolidWorks) - 3D modelling of welded frames, sheet metal parts and mechanical assemblies - Production-ready drawings for laser cutting and bending (DXF/DWG, bend lines, hole patterns, weld symbols, ...) - Design updates and optimisation of existing machines (manufacturability, robustness, easy maintenance) 2) Maintenance & Service Organisation - Setting up maintenance plans, checklists and service documentation - Building simple, practical tools to track machines, interventions and spare parts - Standardising service workflows so technicians and planners work more consistently 3) Lean Improvements in Workshops and Technical Services - 5S and workplace organisation in workshops and warehouses - Standard work instructions for recurring maintenance/service tasks - Mapping and improving the flow from breakdown → planning → execution → invoicing to reduce waste and delays I enjoy working with technical SMEs and machine builders who want: - extra design capacity without hiring full-time - more structure in maintenance and service - a practical partner who understands both CAD and the shop floor Open to: - Remote and hybrid freelance projects - Long-term collaboration as an external design/maintenance partner - AI/engineering related work where mechanical expertise is needed

For the past four years, I have been sharing my expertise as a Design Leader and Scrum Master in the Design & GAE Team, and I am certified as a Professional Scrum Master I. My major strength, in recognizing the raw potential in people and fostering their growth through encouragement, mentoring, and support. My international engineering experience in the USA and Sweden has allowed me to build a global network, enhancing collaboration with platform sites and performing design and geometrical architecture activities for new projects, advanced engineering, and global new 3D methods. During this period, I have developed solid technical skills in diesel engines, manufacturing processes (including plastic injection, high-pressure die casting, forming, sheet metal, rotational molding, and machining), and GD&T combined with CETOL software, which have contributed to the improvement of several projects. As an immersive and innovative tool, virtual reality and augmented reality have been instrumental in several design reviews and are now being applied to minimize environmental issues. These technologies are part of Industry 4.0, which I have led the implementation of locally. In the past year, I have been involved with the Volvo Performance System, leading the Powertrain Engineering core team.
