Target start date: Autumn 2023

We are on the lookout for a self-driven CNC Programmer and Operation Specialist to join our team at 1X Technologies AS. Imagine being the person who starts up our brand new prototyping workshop. Your job is not going to be just to program the various CNC machines, but also to contribute to establishing the infrastructure of our internal machine park. About 1X
1X designs androids built to benefit society. Since 2014, we’ve been building androids with the product design mindset of safety first, balanced performance, and smart behavior. Our mission is to build androids that work alongside people to meet the world’s labor demand and build an abundant society. Our wheeled model, EVE, is engineered to work with you, from guarding to logistics, and our bipedal model, NEO, is designed to become a general-purpose android, with a broad deployment in various applications, and, eventually, assisted living.

Founded in Moss, Norway, 1X has grown into an international team with offices around the globe. We envision a bright new future: humans and androids, working and learning, Side by Side.

Why this job is exciting
• You will help build and operate 1X’s first machine park - a world-class advanced prototyping and manufacturing asset.
• Influence how our products are designed through making suggestions on modifications that allow for better manufacturability and higher volume production technologies
• Fast paced environment: Ensure a quick turnaround for engineers - often within a day.

Roadmap
Within first month, you will...
• Get familiar with the portfolio and complexity of parts that build up our products
• Define the machining strategy for each part, start setting up CAM and machine simulation
• Programming our parts and machining them in the suitable machine (incl. Measuring that they are within spec)

Within three months, you will…
• Be self-sufficient, and lead the programming/operation planning, execution and implementation of tasks relate to the implementation of the machine shop and CMM machine
• Collaborate closely with R&D teams and drive the implementation of changes in design for better manufacturability
• Own all processes (From CAD to the finished part on the table) related to the prototyping Machine Park in the company

Within one year, you will…
• Be the go-to person related to the machining and low-volume production of parts
• Manage a fully functioning machine park (incl. CNC machines, EDM equipment, a CMM machine)
• Oversee the production of parts, ensuring quality and short lead times

REQUIREMENTS
Must-Haves:
• Proven experience in CNC programming and operation, specifically with 5-axis programming for mill/turn machines.
• Proficiency in working with CELOS with SIEMENS and/or CELOS with HEIDENHAIN controller.
• Skilled in machine simulation and capable of foreseeing potential collisions before machine operation.
• Experience in working with lightweight materials such as Al, Mg alloys, Ti and others.
• Ability to measure parts as they get made, often to a high degree of precision, to ensure they are within spec
• Adhering to safety regulations and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Nice-To-Haves:
• Experience with DMG Mori machines (NTX series and DMU series) will be considered a significant advantage.
• SIEMENS NX CAM Manufacturing Engineer Associate certificate and/or Mastercam Multiaxis Certificate or similar.
• Hands-on experience in programming and operating CMM machines and other measurement methods relevant for quality checks of machined parts.
• Assisting with troubleshooting and resolving machine-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Data-driven mindset and ability to analyze performance metrics, enabling data-based decision-making for process optimization and product design improvements (making changes to products to suit a particular manufacturing technology).
