We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fixture Design Engineer to design a complete set of mechanical assembly fixtures for a manual hydraulic press-based manufacturing process.
The fixtures will be used for pressing bushes, bearings, pins, and related components into brake caliper sub-assemblies. The design must be fully mechanical and suitable for a production environment with quick loading/unloading and operator-friendly operation. The assemblies include arm subassemblies, pad holder assemblies, mounting brackets, slack adjuster housings, and bearing housings.
Scope of Work
The engineer will be responsible for:
•Studying component and assembly drawings.
•Designing dedicated fixtures for:
•Upper Arm Bush Pressing
•Lower Arm Bush Pressing
•Non-Drive End Arm Assemblies
•Left & Right Pad Holder Assemblies
•Mounting Bracket Bush Pressing
•Slack Adjuster Nut Housing Assembly
•One-Way Bearing Press Fixture
•Nut Follower / Spindle Housing Assembly
•Developing foolproof location and clamping methods.
•Designing manual hydraulic press tooling and mandrels.
•Ensuring correct pressing depth and alignment.
•Designing for ease of manufacturing and maintenance.
•Incorporating poka-yoke features wherever possible.
•Reducing setup time and operator dependency.
